Deeksharambh – NSS Inaugural And Orientation

The NSS Unit of the College conducted Inaugural of the unit and also organized Orientation session as part of the Deeksharambh initiative, for the NSS volunteers on 4th August 2022 from 12:30 to 1:30 pm in Hall no. 1 in the Central Block. The Resource Person for the session was Mr. Sumanth Nayak, a former NSS Volunteer who has bagged the coveted Indira Gandhi, Best NSS Volunteer award, 2016.  55 students attended the session.

The session began with Welcome Address by the Vice Principal, Dr. Rodney D’Silva who encouraged the student volunteers to actively take part in NSS activities with a sense of social service.  NSS PO Incharge Mr. Gajanan Haldankar introduced the Resource Person Mr. Nayak. Speaking to the volunteers in his mother tongue – Konkani, Mr. Nayak narrated his journey till the day he was awarded the best volunteer award.  His experience while participating in state level camps to RDC camp was inspiring to our young volunteers. While recounting on his experience of the camp he participated in China, he said that it is the most patriotic feeling he experienced towards the country as he represented the nation at an international level. Later, he went on and listed the benefits of participating in NSS. He said, NSS is not only about the marks but also it helps in building personality, leadership skills and gives an opportunity to explore new places and meet new people. The Speaker was able to motivate the student volunteers by the end of the session.

The session ended at 1:30 pm with the Vote of Thanks Proposed by NSS PO Mr. Sanjay Velip. The session was compered by NSS PO Ms. Samiksha Vengurlekar.
