DAMODAR UTSAV 2020-2021: ‘The Lord and the Lady’

The Students’ Council organized an online event titled ‘The Lord and the Lady’ as a part of Damodar Utsav Program. The objective of this event was to provide students with an opportunity to present their skills and talents, increase their self-confidence and learn beyond academics to face the challenges of life.

The student coordinator for the event was Ms. Falguni Khatri, student of SY B.Com, and the teachers in charge were Ms. Pooja Shanbhag, and Ms. Lizette D’Costa. The event was held on 29th & 30th June, 2021 and comprised four rounds, of which the first three rounds were conducted consecutively on the first day and the final round was held on the second day from 11.30am to 1.00 pm. 8 students participated in this competition. All the rounds were conducted online via Google Meet Platform.

The rounds were as follows:

Round 1: Introduction and Ramp Walk

Round 2: Video presentation by the participants explaining their contribution to society

Round 3: Talent Round

Round 4: Finale – Q&A by the judges

For the first round the participants were asked to record their videos giving a brief introduction about themselves along with a ramp walk and submit the same for evaluation within the given time frame. For the second round, the participants were asked to submit their video presentations explaining their contribution towards society. In the third round participants had to showcase their talent or unique skills.

The judging criteria for the first three rounds were Vocabulary, Confidence, Poise and Artistic expressions. Judges had to evaluate participants based on these attributes. There was an elimination round after which, only the top 2 scoring candidates from each category (Mr. and Ms.) got a chance to participate for the final round. Here the candidates were judged for their intelligence, communication skills and their response to the questions asked by the respective judges.

The judges for the event were Ms. Akshada Hegde, Assistant Professor, Dept. of Computer Science and Mr. Abhinay Pai, Asst. Prof Department of Financial Services. The judges appreciated the creativity of the students.

Mr. Damodar Title (The Lord) was awarded to Mr. Keegan Silveira, TY B.Com and Ms. Damodar title (The Lady) was bagged by Ms. Hriya Patil, T.Y B.Com.
