OTA (Officers Training Academy, Gwalior) organized a PRCN (Pre-Commissioned Course) 110, GCI-36 from 15th May to 12th August 2023. 117 NCC trainee officers from Army and Navy from all over India attended the course. The primary objective of the course was to provide training to Assistant Nautical Officers (ANOs) and Girl Cadet Instructors (GCIs) in fundamental defense-related subjects. These trained ANOs and GCIs would then go on to train cadets in their respective institutions.
The course spanned a total of 90 days, divided into two terms. At the conclusion of each term, examinations were conducted, and regular assessments were carried out. The rigorous training curriculum encompassed various activities, including drill exercises, physical training, yoga, leadership and personality development sessions, community development, and disaster management classes. Additionally, trainees participated in visits to notable places such as the Air Force Station in Gwalior, 97 Field Regiment of Artillery, 20 Grenadiers, Lakshmibai National Institute of Physical Education, 3 MP Naval Unit, and Tigra Dam. The course was further divided into two parts: a common syllabus and specialized subjects for the Army and Navy. Specialized subjects included map reading, boat pulling and rigging, semaphore language, and firing exercises. A typical day during the course began with yoga or exercise sessions, followed by activities like Zumba and aerobics. The day included drill exercises, lectures, and ended with more drill exercises and games.
During the mid-term break, trainees embarked on an educational tour to Agra, where they visited iconic landmarks such as the Taj Mahal and Red Fort. Towards the end of the course, another educational visit took place, covering historical sites in Gwalior, including Gwalior Fort, Saas Bahu Temple, Sun Temple, Gurudwara Data Bandi Chhor Sahib, Maan Singh Palace, Gujari Mahal, and Teli Ka Mandir. The course also included special events such as a dinner night with the Commandant and other officers at OTA, a high tea gathering at the Commandant’s House, and a Passing Out Parade (POP) dinner night with Reviewing Officer Surgeon Vice Admiral of Navy Medical Services Arti Sarin.
