Clean India Program – October 2021

The NSS Unit organized Azadi Ka Amrut Mahotsav – Clean India Program from 1st– 31st October, 2021 this program was initiated by Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan, Department of Youth Affairs, Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India.

Following are the objectives of the activity conducted:-

  • To organize activities to clean waste mainly Single Use Plastic waste throughout the country from 01st to 31st October 2021
  • To involve all segments of society, Government organizations including PRIs and Non- Government Organizations to instill awareness and feeling of pride among citizens to keep their surroundings clean and waste free.
  • To make the program as People’s Movement through Jan Bhagidari.

The NSS Unit of the College organized various activities as a part of the Clean India Program

Dates Activity
02/10/2021 Volunteers participated in Plogging Run in association with South Goa Collectorate in Margao. 16 volunteers ( 8 boys and 8 girls participated)
13/10/2021 NSS volunteers and PO’s created door-to-door awareness on keeping surroundings clean and dry waste segregation for residents in Pedda area. Residents were encouraged to participate in the dry waste collection drive organized by the NSS Unit of the college in association with Margao Mahila Mandal ( 8 volunteers along with a PO participated)
14/10/2021 NSS volunteers and PO’s created door-to-door awareness on keeping surroundings clean and dry waste segregation for residents in Comba, behind Damodar Higher Secondary School and at Pedda, near Maruti temple. Residents were encouraged to participate in the dry waste collection drive organized by the NSS Unit of the college in association with Margao Mahila Mandal(18 volunteers and 2 PO’s participated)
22/10/2021 One group of Teaching staff of the college created door-to-door awareness on keeping surroundings clean and dry waste segregation for residents in Comba area. Residents were encouraged to participate in the dry waste collection drive organized by the NSS Unit of the college in association with Margao Mahila Mandal ( 14 staff members participated)
23/10/2021 One group of Non-teaching staff and NSS volunteers created door-to-door awareness about dry waste segregation for residential accommodation in Comba near Popular school and around Mahila Nutan school. Residents were encouraged to participate in the dry waste collection drive organized by the NSS Unit of the college in association with Margao Mahila Mandal ( 20 staff members and 4 volunteers participated)
24/10/2021 NSS POs and 11 volunteers participated in the dry waste and E-waste collection drive organised at Margao Mahila Mandal office, Comba
25/10/2021 Second group of teachers and NSS volunteers created awareness at Bus-stand (near Fatima Convent) about not using single-use plastic carry bags, dry waste segregation and responsible disposal; cloth bags made by NSS volunteers were distributed among the shop owners (13 teachers and 5 NSS volunteers participated)
26/10/2021 Second group of Non-teaching staff and NSS volunteers created awareness in areas near Saraswat bank , ICICI bank  and the road upto Canara Bank about not using single-use plastic carry bags, dry waste segregation and responsible disposal; cloth bags made by NSS volunteers were distributed among the shop owners (15 staff members and 9 volunteers participated)
30/10/2021 Rally in Comba area on ‘Swachh Bharat’ followed by cleanliness drive in College campus was organized; 25 volunteers participated in the activity
