CERTIFICATE COURSE IN SPREADSHEET FOR BUSINESS AND FINANCE

The SY & TY Certificate Course Committee organized a 30-hour certificate course in Spreadsheet for Business and Finance. The course aimed to equip students with essential skills in utilizing Microsoft Excel for data analysis, decision-making, and efficient organizational operations. The primary objective of the course was to provide students with a foundational understanding of Microsoft Excel and its applications in business and finance. By the end of the course, participants were expected to gain proficiency in utilizing Excel for data analysis, financial calculations, and generating insights to enhance organizational efficiency.

The course covered a comprehensive range of topics including planning data layout, functions (mathematical, statistical, financial accounting, date-time), data validation, conditional formatting, interest rate calculation, depreciation methods, subtotal usage, text-to-columns conversion, analysis techniques (What-if analysis, goal seek, Vlookup, Hlookup), pivot tables/charts, graphs & charts creation, scenarios creation, macros, data tables, solver tool application, and dashboards planning.

The course was delivered through a combination of theoretical instruction and practical exercises. Mr. William Vaz, proprietor of Comtech Computer Academy in Margao, guided students through each topic, ensuring a thorough understanding of concepts and their practical applications. Participants engaged in hands-on activities, allowing them to apply their learning in real-world scenarios, thus enhancing their proficiency in Excel.

The course equipped students with valuable skills in utilizing Excel for data analysis, financial calculations, and decision-making processes. Participants demonstrated proficiency in planning data layouts, applying various Excel functions, conducting advanced data analysis, creating pivot tables/charts, and designing interactive dashboards. Additionally, students gained insights into optimizing business processes through Excel automation techniques such as macros and solver tool applications. 26 students completed the course. Ms.Swati Bhat and Ms.Delisha Rebello were the teachers in charge for the course.
