Career Guidance Webinar

The Placement Cell organized Career Guidance Webinar on the topic: ‘Career Counselling Session-Find Your Path, Start Your Journey’ for the students across all the programme on Tuesday, 5th October 2021 from 11:30 am to 12:30 pm through Google Meet platform.  The Resource Person for the webinar was Ms. Shobhika Jaju, Psychologist- Silver Linings, Guidance & Counseling Centre, Goa.

The compere for the session was Asst. Prof Grishmi Thakur. Dr. Maithili Naik, Assistant Professor in Commerce and Convenor of Placement Cell addressed the virtual gathering and introduced the Resource Person. Dr. Maithili gave a brief overview of the Placement Cell and highlighted its purpose and objectives to the students. She briefed the students on various skill-based sessions, activities, training programmes and workshops organized by the cell for grooming their personalities. She further introduced the faculty members of the placement cell for the current academic year.

The Resource Person started the session by asking students their preferred career options after graduation. She discussed the importance of career guidance and counseling at the right time and stressed on the need for students to change their attitude towards learning and to choose career options wisely. Ms. Shobhika explained various factors affecting choice of career and emphasized on selecting the right job profile that one is interested in pursuing after graduation or master’s degree. She further suggested that students should take up certificate courses in their areas of specialization where they can learn and enhance their skills.

She also discussed a couple of promising career options and job opportunities available after completing B.Com, B.CA, BBA and M.Com. She enlightened students on various common entrance tests and competitive exams conducted by various organizations/ departments in India. Lastly, she urged the participants to check career library (e-resource platform) which will assist them in identifying and deciding on the right career path.

The speaker addressed all the queries raised by the students at the end of the session. It was an interactive and a very informative session.

The session ended at 12.30 pm with a Vote of Thanks proposed by Ms. Lizette D’Costa, Asst. Prof in Economics and faculty member of the Placement Cell. 84 students attended the session.
