Career Guidance Program for MBA Aspirants

The Career, Training, Internship and Placement (CTIP) Cell of the college organized a Career Guidance Program on 3rd February 2025 in Hall 2 from 11.30 AM onwards, for undergraduate students across the programmes aspiring to pursue an MBA. The session was led by Dr. M. Prabhakaran, Head of the Department of Management Studies, Agnel Institute of Technology and Design (AITD). The session aimed to provide insights into career growth opportunities, higher education options, professional certifications, and MBA prospects.

Dr. Prabhakaran began the session by discussing managerial career growth and the essential skills required to succeed as a manager and different career paths after graduation. He elaborated on various postgraduate study options, including:

  • M.Com and MBA for higher education
  • Professional certifications such as CA, CS, CMA
  • Entrepreneurial opportunities like CFA and Mutual Fund Distribution

A detailed overview of the MBA programme was presented, covering specializations in Marketing, Human Resource Management, Finance, Operations, and Business Analytics. Dr. Prabhakaran emphasized the importance of choosing the right specialization based on individual career goals. Additionally, the session covered MBA entrance exam preparation strategies, focusing on CMAT and ATMA. He provided valuable insights into exam structure and syllabus, effective preparation techniques and tips for achieving high scores. Students were also introduced to the MBA program at AITD, gaining insights into the learning environment, facilities, and academic offerings.

The session was highly interactive and engaging, allowing students to clarify doubts and explore career planning strategies. Participants found the session informative and beneficial in shaping their future academic and professional paths. A total of 83 students (46 males, 37 females) participated in the session.

Expected Outcomes of the Activity 

The students gained clarity on various career paths after graduation, including higher studies, professional certifications, and entrepreneurial ventures. Additionally, the students became aware of different MBA specializations (Marketing, HR, Finance, Operations, Business Analytics) and their relevance to industry demands.
