In 2014, the UGC launched a scheme for skill development-based higher education as part of College/University education, leading to Bachelor of Vocation (B.Voc.) degree. A few years later, recognizing the critical role of Information Technology in all economic and commercial activities, the Government of Goa announced the State Information Technology Policy, 2018.
It is against this background that Shree Damodar College designed the B.Voc.(Software Technologies), a 3-year degree Programme. The Programme has been designed as per National Skill Qualification Framework (NSQF), with inputs from industry experts and primarily focuses on imparting Skill Based Training with certifications from the IT-ITeS Sector Skill Council – National Association of Software and Service Companies (SSC – NASSCOM).
Like in the case of BCA, the B.Voc.(Software Technologies) programme was also pioneered by Shree Damodar College in 2019. Starting with just 11 students in 2019, the programme is now running at full capacity, i.e. we enrol 40 students every year.
The programme comprises of 40% General Education courses and 60% Skill Component courses. The skill-based courses adopted from the Sector Skill Council (NASSCOM) are suitably complemented by well-thought-out courses in general education to provide students with a strong theoretical base for the skills. The outcome is a unique programme that offers students a flexible, new-age avenue for higher education.
The most prominent feature of the B.Voc.(ST) programme is assessment of the Skill component in every semester by SSC-NASSCOM, with a certificate issued to all successful students. It offers job role certifications which enhance the quality of knowledge inculcated in the student along with practical knowledge of the National Occupational Standards (NOS).
The programme aims to create trained manpower with the requisite skills and capabilities to take up job roles and entrepreneurship in the area of Software & Web Application Analysis, Design & Development, Graphics Design, Mobile Application Development, and mould them into competent young and productive professionals.
The B.Voc.(ST) Programme offers exit points at Semester I, II, IV and VI with a Certificate, Diploma, Advanced Diploma and Bachelor’s Degree respectively
As per the current B.Voc.(ST) programme structure, the following Qualification Packs (job roles) are offered under NSQF at various semesters :
Semester I – Junior Software Developer
Semester II – Web Developer
Semester III to IV – Associate DTP
Semester V to VI – Software Developer
B.Voc.(Software Technologies) programme is being offered by the College under Goa University Ordinance – OA23.

First / Second / Third Year Admission Eligibility Criteria / Policy: As per Goa University Ordinance OA-23 (OA-23.1.4 and OA-23.1.5)
