A stately Golden Jubilee Reunion Celebrated at Shree Damodar College, Margao
As part of its Golden Jubilee Celebrations, The Ex-Students’ Association of VVM’s Shree Damodar College of Commerce & Economics, Margao, organised a grand Golden Jubilee Reunion on 7th January 2023 from 4:30 pm onwards at Shree Damodar Educational Campus.
Over 1,500 former students and 50 ex staff members had a gala time as they came together to experience the joyful moment of reuniting with their old friends and rekindle the love for the Alma-mater. The event was hosted by the popular voices of Goa, RJ Shakuntala Bharne and RJ Joad Almeida. Attendees enjoyed the evening filled with events like a cultural program, fashion show, skit, dance and singing put-up by the current as well as the enthusiastic alumni of the College. The remarkable highlight of the event was the performances by the musical stalwarts like Lorna, the Nightingale of Goa, performing along with the Sky
High Band and yet another elegant performance by the Fado queen, Sonia Sirsat. The guests could also reminisce about their college days through a short video- a compilation of old photographs, which was screened amid much fanfare. They spent memorable moments on the stalls put up by vendors, which included gaming stalls, food stalls and accessories stalls. This also provided the vendors a platform to market their product.
Speaking at the event, Prof and Principal Prita Mallya remembered the contributions of the founder members and the ex-teachers to this pioneering institute and expressed her gratitude. The President of Vidya Vikas Mandal Mr. Nitin Kunkolienkar shared his vision of making the College the best Commerce College in India and requested the cooperation of the alumni in achieving this dream. The alumni also got an opportunity to interact with the current students and the teachers and learn a few things or two from each other’s experiences.
The evening came to an end with the audience swaying to the live and amazing music played by the DJ Navin. The event was coordinated and organised by Dr. Edwin Barreto, Vice Principal of the College.
