The Department of Management organized a session ‘Ace the Base- Fundamentals of Stock Trading’ for the students of SY BBA(FS) on 26th October 2022. The Resource Person for the session was Johann Klaus D’Silva, Equity Research Analyst at Cirque India Equity Fund.
Ms. Inara Fernandes, a student of SY BBA(FS) A, the compere for the session, welcomed the Resource Person and the participants. In his address, Vice-Principal Dr. Edwin Barreto spoke about the changing mindsets of people regarding stock markets and the importance of choosing the right stock. Ms. Ayuna Antao, student of SY BBA(FS) A introduced the Resource Person.
Mr. Johann commenced the session by speaking about the importance of picking the right stocks. He then went on to explain the fundamental analysis required to select suitable goals based on an individual’s investment objectives. The speaker also highlighted the importance of the price-earnings ratio while making an investment decision.
Mr. D’Silva taught the students the technique involved in reading the candle chart of companies, with a live example of Tata Steel Ltd, which included setting the support and resistance levels in order to trigger buy or sell and to avoid losses.
Towards the end of the session the speaker also shared his personal watchlist with the students to help them build and monitor their stocks and he also answered the queries raised by the students. It was an informative and enlightening session. Ms. Radhika Naik, a student of SY BBA(FS) B proposed the Vote of Thanks. A total of 70 students attended the session.
