Attended 13th D.D. Kosambi Festival of Ideas 2020

39 BBA(FS) students attended the 13th D.D. Kosambi Festival of Ideas 2020 on 27th and 30th January 2020 from 04:30 to 7:00 p.m. at Kala Academy, Panaji. The speaker on 27thwas Dr. Karnam Malleswari, India’s first Woman Olympic Medal Winner. The topic was “India at the Olympics: Future of Weightlifting Sport”. The session began by showing a video on India’s 1st medalist Padma Shri Dr. Karnam Malleswari. She motivated and inspired the students by her knowledge, her experiences, and hardships faced etc. While being interviewed further she also said that she is starting off with her own Sports Academy which is under construction. She is also looking forward to guide young women to follow her steps and beat all scores. She ended the session by giving suggestions to the parents present there. She said that they should encourage their children to participate in sports and teach them to balance Academics and Sports.

The speaker on 30th January 2020 was Dr. Chhavi Rajawat, First Woman Sarpanch of Soda village in Rajasthan. The topic was “When Women Rule”. She began her session by narrating her journey towards becoming a Sarpanch. She informed that her main aim was to bridge the gap between Villages and Government. She also said that, as a student it is important to be open to learning from all sources. She quoted that “Ego is one of the biggest evils around and with that comes arrogance. But it is important that as a leader, we are willing to shed this ego and learn from dialogue. It is only then that transformation can happen.” This has been her mantra and has led her to success. The sessions were quite inspiring.
