The Postgraduate Department of Commerce organized a class activity on the topic Conflict Management on 22nd January, 2020 at 12:00 pm in the M.Com classroom. The main objective of the activity was to provide the students with a practical viewpoint on conflict management. Students Mr. Asif Shaikh & Ms. Riya Pai Vaidya began the activity by giving an introduction on conflict management and discussed about the measures that one should take to avoid conflicts amongst employees. The activity was called ‘Tangled’.
A total of 30 students were divided into two groups, A & B, each consisting of 15 students. At the beginning they were asked to hold hands and form a circle; they were then asked to move from one direction to another and here they found themselves tangled. The students were not allowed to let go of each other’s hands. The tangled participants had to form the circle again as it was before by using their own strategies.
With the strategy used, Group B emerged as the winner. After the activity, the students were asked what they learned from this activity. They responded by saying that they understood the importance of working together as a team rather than focusing on their individual conflicts. The ability to communicate well with each other helped them to win the task.
