Freshers’ Welcome

The M.Com Department of the College organized a Freshers’ Welcome on 8th August 2019 at 10:00 a.m. in the GD Hall. The party portrayed a Tropical theme and was anchored by Ms. Sonia De Mascarenhas. The students were very creative in designing their outfits to depict the Tropical theme. The freshers’ welcome was attended by the Principal, Vice Principal, Faculty Members and the M.Com students. The event had many colorful events and programs like ramp walk, group dances, solo dances, exhilarating singing performances, games and spot prizes with a twist coupled with a splendid decoration, thus making it an event to remember.

The event began with Asst. Prof. Sheryl De Silva welcoming the students to the VVM family. Post the welcome, Ms. Kavya Shankar sang a melodious song for the freshers. Ms. Mruga Naik also shared her thoughts through her self-composed beautifully penned poem. To bring in more fun to the gathering the M.Com Part II students came together for an exciting Fusion dance performance. Also Mr. Deepesh Pandit surprised the audience as he exhibited his dancing skills by performing a solo dance. Thereafter the M.Com Part II students welcomed the Part I students in playing a game titled ‘Musical Chairs with a Twist’. The M.Com I students had to source whatever item mentioned by the anchor from the audience; in case they couldn’t source the item they would be declared out of the game. It was a fun filled game that was thoroughly enjoyed by the students. As the day progressed Spot Prizes were organized. The Commerce-related questions of the Spot prizes were equally interesting and challenging for the students. ‘Bombarding the Subjects’ was another interesting game. Principal Dr. Prita Mallya and Vice Principal Dr. Rodney Silva cut the ceremonial cake to welcome the students and celebrate the day. Students enjoyed some light refreshments to recharge themselves for the ‘Ramp Walk’. The students of M.Com Part I walked the Ramp in their own individual styles that conformed with the Tropical theme.

Students enjoyed a fun session with their peers. The freshers’ welcome was all about creating everlasting relationships with each other. The programme concluded at 3:00 p.m.
