The Nature Club of the College along with the NCC Army and Navy units organized the Annual Monsoon Hike for students of all programmes on August 3, 2019. This is one of the most anticipated events of the Academic year. A total of 240 students and 22 teachers participated.
The objective of the monsoon hike was to explore the wildlife sanctuary and appreciate the beauty, flora and fauna around Kuskem Waterfall. After a long one hour forty minutes bus drive passing through villages and forested areas, the group reached Kuskem village at around 10.45 am. The village is draped with green mist-kissed mountains, and lush green paddy fields. The students and staff trekked through forests up the hill, admiring the lush green fields and gushing streams along the way. They had to wade through flowing water to reach the peak. Some hikers spent hours gazing at the beauty of the gorgeous waterfalls and soaking in the surrounding beauty. Later the team walked downhill to a fast flowing mini waterfall where they spent the rest of the time posing for pictures.
Around 1.30 pm, the hikers headed to the garden in Cotigao wildlife sanctuary office to have lunch and spend the rest of the time and after spending a day in the wilderness they were back safely by 5.00 pm.
The major outcomes of the Monsoon Hike were that students were sensitized about the natural resources around us, all participants were relievedof stress and hiking helped in physical and mental fitness. It also gave everyone the opportunity to socialize and mingle with students and faculty of all programmes.
