Seminar on Import and Export Strategies for the state of Goa

The BBA(FS) Department of the College organized a seminar for BBA(FS) students on 16th March, 2019 from 3.00 pm to 5:00 pm. The theme of the seminar was Import and Export Strategies for the State of Goa and the aim of the seminar was to supplement the learning obtained in the course on International Finance.

The resource person for the session was Mr. Himanshu Patnekar, currently working as Functional Manager at Directorate of Industries, Trade and Commerce at Panjim. He has played a critical role in development of micro, small and medium enterprises. He also implemented strategies in Import and Exports for the state of Goa.

The main objective of conducting the seminar was to provide students with an insight into the opportunities available for imports and exports, with special reference to Goa. Mr. Patnekar provided comprehensive inputs on Udyog Aadhar, Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises Development (MSMED), Incentive schemes of Directorate of Industries, Trade and Commerce (DITC) and Prime Minister’s Employment yojana.

He pointed out how the ease of doing business in Goa has drastically improved in comparison to other neighbouring states. He also gave a demonstration of the website www.dgciskol.gov.in and explained how it can be used for extracting statistical data of Imports and Exports of India.

He also spoke about the difficulties pertaining to various sectors such as IT, Marine, Handicraft, Pharmaceutical, etc. which can in turn out to be an opportunity for the young entrepreneurs.

A total of 47 students (30 female and 17 male) attended the session; the seminar ended with a Q&A session followed by the National anthem.
