Fine Arts & Creativity Workshop

IMG_20170911_145721The Fine Arts Club and Creativity Club of the Cultural Council of the College organized a seven-day  workshop on Fine Arts and Creativity  from September 4- 17 2017 . This workshop was organized for the First Year students of B.Com, BBA(FS) and BCA programmes.  64 students participated in the workshop for which the Resource Person was Mr. Kalidas Mhamal (MFA), Assistant Professor, Vidhya Prabhodini, Porvorim Goa. During the workshop students were given hands-on sessions in a whole range of activities.

Day 1 – 4th Sept: Mr. Mhamal introduced students to the fundamentals of art, drawing and perspective techniques. Students learnt how to draw 1D and 2D images.

Day 2 – 6th Sept: Students were introduced to the Colour wheel. They used the primary colours viz. red, blue and yellow to prepare the secondary colors viz. green, orange and purple, and then used the secondary colors to make Tertiary colours. All the students designed the Colour wheel having a composite of primary, secondary and tertiary colours.

IMG_20170913_150508Day 3 – 8th Sept: Students learned how to make 2D designs. They used their acquired skills to create a variety of designs, which were then painted using the colour wheel created in the earlier session.

Day 4 – 11th Sept: Students were introduced to calligraphy, and the amazing designs that can be drawn with the help of this art. Students were taught how to handle the calligraphic pen for creating different calligraphic designs.

Day 5 – 13th Sept: Students were taught how to make designs on thermocol. After completing the design, they were introduced to thermocol carving using a cutter and thereafter to polish the surface. Students made different designs such as cartoons, flowers, butterflies, etc.

Days 6 & 7 – 15th & 16th Sept 2017: Cold Ceramic on board or pot. Students were given a demonstration on clay preparation mixing Araldite solution and chalk powder. Students drew designs on pots and boards and the designs were filled using clay. On the next day students were taught how to paint the ceramic.

The workshop was organized and coordinated by Mr. Sunil Naik and Ms. Lizia Gomes.
