Two Day Leadership Training Camp

IMG_20170621_093814The Students’ Council of VVM’s Shree Damodar College of Commerce & Economics organized a two-day Leadership Training Camp in association with the renowned M. R. Pai Foundation and Forum of Free Enterprise, Mumbai on 21st and 22nd June 2017. The camp, organised to build up leadership skills among our youth, was attended by 62 students.
The inaugural session was attended by Ms. Swati Kapadia, Director, Forum of Free Enterprise and M R Pai Foundation and Ms. Hoofreez Batliwala. In her welcome address, Principal Dr Prita D. Mallya welcomed the students and urged them to make the best use of the sessions to develop their personalities, leadership skills and team-building skills. Ms. Swati Kapadia spoke about the M R Pai Foundation and its activities, particularly among the youth. Expert trainers Mr. Sachin Kamath and Mr. Vivek Patki were also present.

The training camp was divided into six sessions, with each session focusing on important qualities that are required to develop the personality of the students and develop them as young leaders. The sessions were activity-based, involving games, group discussions, team work, etc.

IMG_20170621_093905In the session on self- esteem, students were taught how to develop and consistently maintain their self-esteem through use of proper skills, knowledge and attitude. During the session dealing with developing effective skills of communication, the students were taught how to communicate in each and every situation in life by medium of games & interactive activities. Students were then asked to identify or set their goals in life and they realized the importance of having a goal for a bright future. Students were also trained on effective time management, self- management, on how to work as a team through cooperation and mutual understanding.

Mr. Edwin Barreto, Convenor of the Students’ Council welcomed all the students and guests to the Valedictory function. Ms. Arti Parulekar, presented a brief summary of the learnings from each of the 6 sessions, which was followed by several participants enthusiastically sharing their feedback about the programme and their key takeaways from the Camp. Mr. Sumit Kumar, Faculty Member on the Students’ Council delivered the Vote of Thanks. Faculty members on the Students’ Council, Ms. Preksha Chopdekar, Ms. Cinola Vaz and Ms. Poorva Gude were present.
