Harshad-PranitaMr. Harshad Chari and Ms. Pranita Sawant, students of Final Year BCA, Shree Damodar College of Commerce & Economics, secured First Place at S-Capade 5.0 – the National Level Students’ Software Exhibition, held at Rosary College of Commerce & Arts, Navelim, on 29th April 2017. Three industry experts evaluated demonstration of the projects of 9 teams from different Colleges.

The project by Harshad and Pranita titled “Click-N-Pick”, which was internally supervised by faculty member Ms. Namita Neurenkar and went on to win the first position at the exhibition, was on Store Management. The software consists of 3 types of users: Customers, Employees, and Admin. Customers browse the products and add the items of interest into the cart. Customers can also create a custom list which they can fill anytime to place an order. Employees get notification if any order is placed and once any one employee processes that order, other employees cannot see that order. Employee can add, edit or delete the products. Admin gets all the monthly and yearly reports of new customers registered, sales of products, etc.

Final year projects prescribed by Goa University curriculum are carried out by the Computer Science Department under the supervision of the internal faculty members. Utmost importance is given to selecting meaningful and industry relevant projects, and once the specifications are cleared by an internal committee, due rigor of Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) is emphasized for different phases of design, implementation and testing of the software projects. In an effort to enable students to undertake projects on latest technologies, the Department regularly organizes workshops and training sessions by industry experts so that the gap between industry and academia can be bridged in an age of rapidly changing software technologies.

The College congratulates Mr. Harshad and Ms. Pranita, and the Department of Computer Science for this achievement.
