VVM’s Shree Damodar College of Commerce & Economics, Margao organized “Ghumat Sangram-2016” an Inter Collegiate Ghumat Aarti Competition on 31st August 2016. 12 Colleges from all over Goa participated in the competition. Mr. Digambar Kamat- Margao MLA was the Chief Guest for the function. Principal Dr. Prita D. Mallya, Vice-Principal Dr. Sanjay Sawant Dessai, Cultural Council Members Ms. Mamta Kumari, Ms Prachi Kolamkar, Ms. Pooja Pai Khot, Ms. Sneha Lotlikar and Mr. Sunil Naik were also present for the event.
Mr. Gaurish Talwadkar and Mr. Suraj Pinge were the judges for the competition. Before beginning the competition, the Ghumat Aarti team of Shree Damodar College performed for the audience. The Ghumat Samagram 2016 was worn by DMC College, Mapusa, 1st Runners up- S.S. Dempo College of Commerce & Economics, Panaji and 2nd Runners up- Shridora Caculo College, Mapusa. The Best Singer was bagged by Government College, Sanquelim; Best Ghumat Vadak- DM’s College, Mapusa; Best Shamela Vadak- S.S. Dempo College, Panaji; Best Khasale Vadak- St.Xavier’s College, Mapusa and Best Gazal Vadak-Goa College of Music. The judges congratulated all the participants for their efforts and exceptional performance.
MLA Shri Digambar Kamat appreciated the efforts of the organizing team and promised to support such events in the future. He stressed that such competitions encourage and boost Goan culture and folk art among our youth. Mr.Tushar Naik, G.S. Cultural Council proposed the Vote of Thanks. The participants and the students of Shree Damodar College appreciated the competition and the wonderful performances by all the teams.
