Shree Damodar College of Commerce & Economics, Margao, in association with I-Create, Goa, inaugurated a 4-day ‘Change the Mind Set- Aspiring Entrepreneurs Workshop” from 22nd to 25th August 2016, to promote the spirit of entrepreneurship among the students. The workshop was inaugurated by Shri Rajesh Sheth, Managing Director of Mall de Goa, Porvorim, who was Chief Guest at the inaugural function.
In his interactions Shri Sheth emphasized that students today need to qualify themselves to the optimum extent and then take up entrepreneurial opportunities. He said that demographic changes were taking place in Goa as young engineers were migrating out and were being replaced by unskilled migrants. He appealed to the student community to shed their inhibitions and become entrepreneurs, as our state offered ample variety of attractive opportunities for innovation.
He hoped that our policy makers would evolve a ‘single window scheme’ for licensing and flexibility in promoting ‘ease of doing business’. He very strongly advocated for the IT sector to be promoted aggressively, not only to increase employment opportunities and foster development, but also to attract young qualified Goans back to Goa.
Shri Sheth recounted the various challenges he had to overcome since the year 2006, to convince investors and the Government of Goa that a large Mall was indeed a viable proposition.
The program was anchored by Dr Rodney D’Silva, Convenor of the Entrepreneurship Cell and Ms. Lydia Menon introduced the Chief Guest.
The program concluded with Shri Sheth responding to questions put to him by the young and aspiring entrepreneurs of the future.
