NSS SPECIAL CAMP

The NSS Special Camp of Shree Damodar College of Commerce and Economics was held at Fatorpa in the premises of Shree Shantadurga Devasthan from 14th November to 20th November 2015. The camp was attended by 63 NSS volunteers along with NSS Chief Programme officer Dr. B.P. Sarath Chandran, and other Programme officers Mr. Vishal Chari, Ms. Lina Sadekar, Ms. Preksha Chopdekar and Ms.Namrata Haldankar.

The NSS camp began with the Inaugural function. The function was inaugurated by the Principal Dr. (Mrs) Prita D. Mallya, Vice – Principal Dr. Sanjay Dessai, Chief guest Mr. Sanzil Da’Costa, NSS Chief Programme officer Dr. B.P. Sarath Chandran and by two NSS Volunteers. After the functions five different groups were formed of the volunteers and a brief orientation was given to the volunteers about the activities to be undertaken of the camp.

15th November 2015
Every morning started with assembly and morning walk to refresh the minds of the volunteers. This day volunteers cleaned the temple premises by plucking the weeds and other plastic materials and in the evening the volunteers were taken for a nature walk within Fatorpa. The day ended with a cultural programme by the volunteers.

16th November 2015
Day started with assembly and morning exercise. After the breakfast volunteers participated in the Plastic Collection Drive wherein the students collected plastics from the road side within the vicinity of Fatorpa and the same was handed over to the concerned village panchayat. In the evening a talk was conducted on Environmental awareness by Dr. Nadaf, Principal, Mallikarjun College.

17th November 2015
The day started with a wonderful assembly by the NSS Volunteers, followed by a talk on Health Awareness covering topics like Nutrition and health and Awareness on Tuberculosis which were given by the officials from the health department Cuncolim. In the evening a talk was held on Personality development which was given by Ms. Florence Rebello. The day ended with a cultural programme.

18th November 2015
On this day all the NSS volunteers visited Old Age Home where they had organised different cultural programmes. Volunteers got to learn a lot from this visit and realised the importance of humanity in their life. In the evening paper bags were made by the volunteers which were distributed to the nearby villagers. At Night Star gazing activity was undertaken for the volunteers.
19th November 2015
Socio Economic survey for the village was conducted by NSS volunteers on the request of the village panchayat. Volunteers collected data from 3 wards of the village covering around 150 households. In the evening for valedictory function Mrs Joan Rebello was the chief Guest, She spoke on how important is NSS to shape the future of the students.

The Valedictory was followed by Cultural program by students and later various prizes for NSS volunteers were announced. Mr Tushar Naik was best Male volunteer and Best Female Volunteer was Miss Seval Fernandes, apart from this best NSS group award was also given and Prizes were also given to five sincere volunteers.
20th November 2015
On the Last day of NSS Camp all the NSS volunteers cleaned the premises where they were staying, leaving it behind clean and tidy the way it was given for the camp purpose.
