Field Trip to Goosebumps Virtual Theme Park

On 17th January 2025, the Department of Computer Science organized a field trip for BCA and B.Voc (ST) students to Goosebumps Virtual Theme Park, Calangute-Baga, from 12:00 PM to 5:30 PM. The field trip commenced with a warm and enthusiastic welcome from the manager, setting a lively tone for the day. Students were introduced to a variety of immersive virtual reality activities that transported them into exciting and dynamic environments.

Students engaged in thrilling experiences such as the Plank Experience, Laser Beams, VR Boxing, and VR Cricket, which tested their skills and reflexes. The Roller Coaster and Sky Diving simulations provided adrenaline-pumping excitement, while creative games like Super Bikes VR, Fruit Ninja, Archery and Pistol Whip challenged their coordination and focus. The Haunted Room, Someone in the Room, and Strange Things added a layer of mystery and suspense, captivating their imagination and sense of adventure.

The diverse range of activities not only provided entertainment but also sparked curiosity and inspired creativity among students. The trip offered a hands-on introduction to cutting-edge virtual reality technology, allowing students to explore its potential applications in entertainment, education, and beyond. These interactive experiences promoted teamwork, problem-solving, and critical thinking, while also encouraging students to think innovatively about how such technologies could be applied in real-world scenarios. The day proved to be a perfect blend of learning and fun, leaving students with unforgettable memories, a sense of accomplishment, and a deeper appreciation for the creative possibilities in immersive digital environments.

A total of 47 students (21 males, 26 females) participated in the field trip. They were accompanied by Assistant Professors Ms. Samira Vengurlekar and Ms. Vinaya Kirloskar from the Department of Computer Science.

Expected Outcome of the Activity: 

The field trip offered a blend of educational enrichment, skill development, and entertainment. Students immersed themselves in cutting-edge virtual and augmented reality experiences, gaining insights into the creative processes behind the Goosebumps series and the interdisciplinary fields of computer science, digital design, and storytelling. The trip fostered teamwork and problem-solving skills as participants navigated interactive games and challenges, while also inspiring creativity through engaging storylines and thrilling virtual adventures. Beyond entertainment, the visit provided valuable exposure to careers in technology, animation, game design, and theme park development, broadening students’ awareness of opportunities in the entertainment industry.
