The Reader’s Club of VVM’s Shree Damodar College of Commerce & Economics, organized an engaging Elocution Competition, focusing on contemporary issues that resonate with the students. The event held on 09th October 2024, commenced at 12:45 PM in Classroom F-104, with a warm welcome by Asst. Prof. Ciana Fernandes, in-charge of the Reader’s Club, to the esteemed judges, Asst. Prof. Zakiya Tahir and Asst. Prof. Pressy Pereira, along with participating students and the audience.
Each of the 09 participants (05 male, 04 female) presented their viewpoints with clarity, showcasing both in-depth research and effective public speaking skills. The judges provided constructive feedback, applauding the participants for their thought-provoking presentations and encouraging them to continue honing their skills.
The winners of the competition were announced:
1st Place: Arya Naik (FY BCA, Div B)
2nd Place: Dalal Ambar Abhay (M.Com. Part-II)
3rd Place: Anushree Prasad (FY BCom, Div A) and Sudeep Dharwadkar (FY BCom, Div D)
The event concluded at 1:45 PM, with Asst. Prof. Ciana Fernandes delivering a vote of thanks to the judges for their valuable time and insights, and to the students for their enthusiastic participation. This competition was a valuable opportunity for students to develop critical thinking and public speaking skills while engaging in meaningful discussions. Expected Outcome of the Activity:
The competition provided students with the opportunity to improve their public speaking skills, such as clarity, pronunciation, and tone, fostering the ability to express ideas clearly and confidently. Speaking in front of an audience also helped participants build self-esteem and reduce stage fright, contributing to their personal growth and communication skills.
