The Counseling and Outreach for Peer Empowerment (COPE) – Mental Health Club of VVM’s Shree Damodar College of Commerce & Economics, conducted an activity titled “Emotional Bin” for First Year B.Com students on 26th August 2024 at 12:30 PM in classroom F-105. A total of 41 students attended the session that was aimed to highlight the importance of journaling and expressing negative emotions when faced with challenges in life.
The session was initiated by Ms. Eshani Bakhle, the College Counselor, who introduced the objective of the session. Mr. Fahad Mallik (SY B.Com, Div C, student event coordinator and student COPE member) and Ms. Alethea Barreto (SY BBA, COPE member) guided the students on the “Emotional Bin” activity. During this activity, students were encouraged to write down a negative incident or emotion they had experienced but could not express due to various circumstances.
Mr. Fahad emphasized the significance of journaling as a method to declutter the mind and to cope with negative emotions in healthy way The session concluded with a Q&A segment, where students had the opportunity to ask questions and share their thoughts.
Expected Outcome of the Activity:
The session was designed to help students understand the importance of expressing negative emotions, contributing to their personal growth. Journaling was promoted as a tool for combating negative thoughts and fostering both personal and academic development.
