VVM’s Shree Damodar College of Commerce & Economics, Margao, Goa, proudly secured the 2nd place overall with an impressive haul of 3 Gold Medals in the All Goa Inter-Collegiate Weightlifting Championship. The championship was organized by Goa University and held on the 13th and 14th of August, 2024.
The college was represented by 6 dedicated participants, each competing in different weight categories. The team included Mr. Alton Almeida, Mr. Omprakash Ram, Mr. Kalash Joshi, Mr. Badal Naik, Mr. Saharsh Metri, and Mr. Bikram Chauhan.
Gold Medal Achievements:
- Alton Almeidasecured the Gold Medal in the up to and including 55kg weight category with a remarkable total performance of 164kg (Snatch – 72kg, Clean & Jerk – 92kg).
- Omprakash Ramearned the Gold Medal in the up to and including 61kg weight category, achieving a total performance of 147kg (Snatch – 65kg, Clean & Jerk – 82kg).
- Badal Naikclaimed the Gold Medal in the up to and including 67kg weight category with a total performance of 143kg (Snatch – 65kg, Clean & Jerk – 78kg).
All 6 participants demonstrated exceptional dedication, discipline, and commitment to their respective weight categories, contributing significantly to the overall success of the team. Their achievements not only brought honour to the college but also highlighted the strength and capability of VVM’s Shree Damodar College of Commerce & Economics in the field of sports.
