The Post Graduate Department of Commerce organized a field trip on 11th March 2024, to GMI Zarhak Moulders Pvt Ltd, New Millennium Bakers (Monginis Factory) and Pascoal Spice Farm, Ponda Goa. Two faculty members Ms. Twinkle Fernandes and Ms. Edrea Picardo accompanied 78 students on the field trip. The trip aimed to provide students with practical insights into industry and agricultural practices.

GMI Zarhak Moulders Pvt Ltd, an Indo-French joint venture, hosted the first leg of the trip. The companyspecializes in manufacturing the well-known brand of water tanks, SHAKTI, along with custom-moulded technical parts. Mr. Sachin Kotebhavi, the Production Manager, provided a comprehensive explanation of the production process. Students had the opportunity to witness the live manufacturing of Shakti water tanks, gaining valuable insights into industrial operations. The next stop on the itinerary was New Millennium Bakers, a franchisee of Monginis, a national pioneer in cakes and pastries. Stringent hygiene measures were observed, with students required to wear masks and head caps before entering the facility. They were given a tour of the production process for Monginis cakes and pastries, allowing them to understand the intricacies of food manufacturing in a controlled environment. The final destination of the field trip was Pascoal Spice Farm in Ponda, Goa. Here, students experienced a guided tour of the spice plantation, where they learned about various spices and other plant varieties. The interactive session provided insights into agricultural practices and the importance of sustainable farming methods.

The field trip proved to be an enriching experience for the students, offering a blend of industrial and agricultural knowledge. The firsthand exposure to manufacturing processes at GMI Zarhak Moulders Pvt Ltd and New Millennium Bakers, coupled with the educational tour of Pascoal Spice Farm, contributed to the holistic learning of the students. Additionally, the team building games and lunch provided an opportunity for networking and camaraderie among the participants. Overall, the field trip was a success, fostering a deeper understanding of commerce-related concepts beyond the classroom setting.
