The Research & Development Cell in collaboration with FD Cell organised an insightful session titled ‘In depth Insights: The Art of Case Study Research’ on 10th February 2024, from 12.15 pm to 1.15 pm in room no F-104. Mr. Clifford D’Costa, FPM Scholar Goa Institute of Management and an alumnus of our college led the session as the Resource Person. Dr. Maithili Naik, Convenor of R&D Cell initiated the session by introducing the Resource Person and providing a comprehensive overview of the session to the participants.
The objective of the session was to provide researchers with a deeper understanding of the art involved in crafting meaningful case studies. The art of analyzing case study data was a key aspect of the session. The session began with a clear definition of case study research, emphasizing its qualitative nature and the detailed analysis of a particular subject within its real-life context.
During the session, the speaker provided valuable insights into various types of case study research, drawing from personal experiences in researching notable cases such as Zerodha and DMart. The discussion offered a firsthand perspective on the intricacies and challenges encountered while working on these specific cases. Participants gained insights into the diverse purposes of case studies, including theory-building, exploration, and problem-solving. The session focused on the intricacies of designing a case study. This included careful consideration of the research questions, selection criteria for cases, and the importance of defining the scope and boundaries. Practical tips were shared for effective planning and execution.
Mr. Clifford provided an in-depth examination of various data collection methods and elaborated the key elements involved in conducting high-quality case study research. Participants gained insights into the advantages and challenges associated with case study research. The session saw active participation from 25 teaching staff members who engaged in discussions and Q&A sessions with Mr. Clifford. The session offered a comprehensive exploration into the methodology, techniques, and intricacies of conducting case study research. The session concluded at 12:15 pm with Ms. Pooja Shanbhag, Convenor of FDP Cell, expressing gratitude with the Vote of Thanks. The session proved to be highly informative and enriching and was appreciated by all the teachers.
