One Day State Level Inter-Collegiate Event ‘Comquest 4.0’

The Post Graduate Department of Commerce organized a One Day Inter-Collegiate Event ‘Comquest 4.0’ for M.Com students across Goa on 10th February 2024. The event aimed to promote learning, innovation, and the exchange of ideas among budding postgraduates in commerce. The day kicked off with the registration for the event that commenced at 8:30 a.m. The event witnessed participation of six colleges from Goa: Rosary college, Navelim, S.S Dempo college, Bambolim, St. Xavier’s College, Mapusa; Dnyanprassarak Mandal’s College, Assagao, Govt. College, Pernem and MES Vasant Joshi College, Zuarinagar.

The inaugural function began with the lighting of the traditional lamp in Hall 1. Ms. Petalia Coutinho was the compere for the Inaugural Function. The Dignitaries present for the inaugural function were Vice Principal Dr. Edwin Barreto, Vice Principal Prof. Sanjay Dessai and Chief Guest, Ms. Rachana Deshpande, Founder of AR Consultancy Solutions and 9 Digits.  The Chief Guest was introduced by Asst. Prof. Edrea Picardo.

The Programme Coordinator, Asst. Prof. Twinkle Fernandes briefed the audience about the proceedings of the event. Comquest 4.0 featured three main categories: Pre Open, Bear, and Bull, each containing multiple sub-events both On-stage as well as off stage events such as Insta R (Reel Making), Trade Craft (Logo Making), Mascotrend (Mascot), Ad-Echo Fantasia (Ad Making), Pitch-Rich (Marketing), Stock Market Showdown (Mock Trading), Trade Trivia (Business Quiz), Team Guru (Best Manager), Venture Vault (Business Plan), Bizbrush (Poster Making) and Comquest Royale (Mr. & Ms. Comquest 4.0). A total of 11 sub-events were held for Comquest 4.0.

The Vice Principal, Dr. Edwin Barreto extended a warm welcome to the Chief Guest, teaching faculty and participants from various colleges. He congratulated the Post Graduate Department of Commerce for organizing Comquest 4.0 and mentioned that events like Comquest give students the opportunity to showcase their talents and also help the students in developing their organizing skills. Vice Principal Prof. Sanjay Dessai, in his address emphasized the requirements of a career as a Professor and encouraged the students to be updated about the current news by reading business newspapers and undertaking stock market trading. Chief Guest, Ms.  Rachana Deshpande, in her address inspired the students to leverage their education effectively and encouraged them to adopt entrepreneurial mindset by illustrating anecdotes of renowned business figures who began modestly and eventually achieved remarkable success. She concluded by wishing the participants good luck. Thereafter, the Chief Guest unveiled the overall Champion’s trophy and declared the event ‘Comquest 4.0’ open. Ms. Shruthi Pai Khot and team gave a sweet and musical welcome to the audience. The inaugural function concluded at 10.00 am with the Vote of Thanks delivered by Asst. Prof. Valencia Baptista.

All teams participated with a lot of enthusiasm and vigor in all the events.

The Valedictory function was held at 5:15 p.m. in Hall 1. Ms. Aemisha Azavedo was the compere for the Valedictory Function. The Dignitaries present for the Valedictory function were Vice Principal Dr. Edwin Barreto and Chief Guest: Mrs. Cinthia Maria Borges e Abranches, Principal of R.M.S. Higher Secondary School, Margao.  The Report of Comquest 4.0 was read by Asst. Prof. Ms. Valencia Baptista. The Chief Guest was introduced by Ms. Zia Fernandes. Thereafter, as a token of appreciation, a fruit basket and a memento were presented by Ms. Sunia Boruah to the Chief Guest. The participants from colleges gave their honest feedback about the day’s event.

Mr. Dhiraj Goyal and Mr. Hassan Raza declared the results of the event. The winners for individual sub-events were as follows:

S. S. Dempo College of Commerce & Economics, Cujira emerged as the Overall Winners, while Dnyanprassarak Mandal’s College and Research Centre, Assagao won the Runners up Trophy. Mr. Varun Mascarenhas from Rosary College, Navelim and Ms. Radyni Faldesai of S. S. Dempo College, Cujira were crowned as Mr. and Ms. Comquest 4.0 respectively.

Ms. Switi Gawas, Student Coordinator of Comquest proposed the Vote of Thanks for the Valedictory Function. The event concluded at 6.00 p.m. The Student Coordinators of the event were Ms. Switi Gawas and Mr. Alrich Fernandes.
