On 04th February , 2024, the Goa Konkani Akademi organized ‘37 वो राजभास दीस आनी कोंकणी साहित्य – भाशा सेवा पुरस्कार भेटवण सुवाळो in Dona Paula. The event aimed to commemorate the importance of the Konkani language and showcase its rich cultural heritage. The celebration brought together scholars, students and language enthusiasts to honour and promote the significance of Konkani in the sociocultural fabric of Goa.
The ceremony commenced with the lighting of the traditional lamp by the distinguished dignitaries, symbolizing the enlightenment of knowledge and culture. Dr. Pramod Sawant, in his inaugural address, emphasized the significance of preserving and promoting the Konkani language, acknowledging its role in shaping the cultural identity of Goa.
Madhav Kaushik, the Guest of Honour, spoke about the literary richness of Konkani and its importance in fostering unity among the diverse communities in Goa. Damodar Mauzo, as the Chairman of the Function, shared insights into the efforts of Goa Konkani Akademi in nurturing Konkani literature and art. The highlight of the evening was the presentation of the prestigious Konkani awards for the years 2018, 2019, 2020, and 2021, recognizing outstanding achievements in various categories such as literature, translation, drama, and journalism. The occasion not only recognized the past achievements but also inspired the community to continue their dedication towards preserving and flourishing the Konkani heritage.
4 students, i.e Ms. Taniya Rekdo, Mr. Samir Chavan, Ms. Sejal Naik from B.Com and Ms. Astha Tiwari from BCA attended the function with Faculty member Ms.Snighdha Naik.
