The Students’ Council, Cultural Council, and Sports Council successfully hosted the Annual Intercollegiate event, ‘Anantara 2024’. 10 colleges participated in more than 20 events, including cultural, sports, literary, business, as well as pre-events. The theme of Anantara was ‘Celebrating the Ancient Dynasties of India’. The event was held on 24th and 25th January 2024 at Ravindra Bhavan, Margao.
The Inaugural Ceremony was graced by the presence of Chief Guest Shri Digambar Kamat, MLA, Margao. The programme started with the lighting of the lamp by the special invitees, Principal, Vice-Principal, Student bodies’ convenors, and representatives of the College. Principal Dr. Prita D. Mallya welcomed the gathering and conveyed her best wishes to all the participants. The Chief Guest commended the efforts of the students in organising such events.
PRE-EVENTS
Flag painting: – Vijay Dhwaj
The theme for the event was “Rise from death and return to life”. The teachers in charge were Ms. Lizette D’Costa and Ms. Yugandhara Joshi and the event heads were Ms. Sakshi Ganguli and Ms. Mallita Sawant Dessai. The flags were made and presented by the teams before the event and the judging was held on the first day. The event was judged by Assistant Professors Mr. Sarth Shanbhag and Ms. Namrata Ugvekar. It was a colourful display of flags, each better than the other, which showcased their vision of the theme.

Like Contest – Theme: Promote Anantara in a Funny Way
The “Like Contest” unfolded as a unique and entertaining event aimed at promoting Anantara humorously and engagingly. The Event Heads were Neeraj Aroskar and Damodar Patnekar along with teachers-in-charge, Mr. Andre Pacheco and Ms. Rakshavi Dessai. The judge Mr. Vinay Parge evaluated the participants’ performances.
The teams showcased their wit and humour as they ingeniously promoted Anantara through various entertaining means. From comedic skits to funny advertisements, participants demonstrated their creativity in aligning with the theme. Pallavas emerged as the winners and Rajputs secured the runners-up position.
Short Film Showcase
Short Film Pre-Event, spearheaded by the duo Aditya Joshi and Yaman Redkar with the guidance of Asst. Professors Snehal Alve and Karishma Tuenkar unfolded with creativity, storytelling, and a journey through time. The event focused on three captivating themes: “The Rise of Kaliyug,” “Forgotten Goan Culture,” and “Before the Digital Media.”
The judges for the event were Mr. Amay and Mr. Sandesh Gaundalkar, adding a touch of expertise to the evaluation process. The 1st place was clinched by Team Gupta, whose short film seamlessly wove together the intricate themes. Team Chera secured a well-deserved spot as the runner-up, with a compelling narrative that resonated with the event’s essence.
Bodhi Academy’s Surprise Event: Reel-Making Competition
Bodhi Academy played host to an unexpected Reel Making Competition by event heads Kewal Patel and Myron Soares and Teacher Heads Ms. Ankita Naik and Ms. Akshada Gaonkar. The judges were Mr. Gangesh S. Govekar and Ms. Alka Verma, teachers associated with Bodhi Academy. Themed around the very Institution that hosted it, the competition challenged participants to record promotional videos for the sponsor The Bodhi Academy.
ON STAGE EVENTS
Mr and Ms Anantara
The Mr and Ms Anantara event, under the efficient guidance of Event Heads Krishna Gad and Harshita Poojari and teachers in charge Ms. Sheryl Sanches and Ms. Samira Vengurlekar, unfolded over two days with a total of five captivating rounds. Judges Saisha Prabhu who was the title holder of Miss Goa and Arjun Fallary who was Mr Goa lent their expertise to assess the participants.
Day 1 Highlights: The excitement kicked off with an intriguing Escape Room challenge, followed by a rigorous Fitness Task that tested the contestants’ physical prowess.
Day 2 Showcase: Glamour took centrestage on the second day. Ramp Walk and self-introduction set the tone, showcasing the contestant’s style and personality. The subsequent Talent Round unveiled unique skills, while the Question and Answers Round brought forth intellect and quick thinking.
Team Gupta secured the coveted title of Mr. Anantara, displaying charisma and charm, while Team Maurya dazzled the audience, claiming the title of Ms Anantara with grace and elegance. The event was a resounding success, weaving together elements of challenge, glamour, and talent, leaving a lasting impression on participants and spectators alike.
Vendetta Savannah
The event was organised on Day 1, in the Black box at Ravindra Bhavan. A total of eight colleges participated, each team comprising two participants. The event focused on fostering critical thinking amongst the participants. In round 1, students were expected to represent the CTO and CFO of a company and convince the judges who played the role of the Board of Directors. In round 2, participants were presented with a situation where a scam committed by them had been exposed and the task was to defend themselves before angry investors and the Press.
Mr. Yogendra Karmali, a Financial Advisor from Margao and CA. Anup Borkar graced the occasion as judges. The event started at 3.30 pm and ended at 7 pm. It received enthusiastic participation from the audience. Rajputs secured first place and Mauryas stood second.
The event heads were Abha Naik, Vedang Bagade and Nidhi Kunde with teacher heads Ms. Marjina Shaikh and Ms. Alba De Sa.
Beat Breaker Dance Competition
The electrifying Beat Breaker Dance Competition, led by Event Heads Sahil Khanvilkar and Mitali Poojari with teacher Heads Ms. Rama Borkar and Ms. Delisha Rebello, unfolded with pulsating rhythms and dynamic choreography. Three distinguished judges all being renowned professional dancers Ms. Stefney Dias, Mr. Gaurav Naik, and Mr. Mayank Shirodkar, brought their expertise to the judging panel.
Teams from diverse backgrounds and styles captivated the audience with their mesmerizing dance performances, showcasing a blend of creativity, precision, and passion.
Team Maratha emerged triumphant, securing 1st place with their exceptional dance routine, while Team Pandayan claimed the 2nd position. Team Rajput secured the 3rd spot, adding to the fierce competition.
The judges commended the participants for their dedication, originality, and synchronized moves.
3rd Degree
The 3rd Degree competition unfolded as an intense and daring spectacle, pushing participants from various colleges to their limits. Under the discerning eyes of judges Sandeep Yadav and Neeraj Naik Salgaocar, contestants showcased exceptional courage and resilience in the face of physically demanding tasks.
Chalukyas emerged triumphant, securing 1st place, while the Nandas claimed the 2nd position. The competition was fierce, with participants demonstrating not only physical prowess but also mental fortitude. The tasks presented to participants were both physically and mentally exhausting. From engaging in physically tiring activities to consuming unconventional items like raw chicken, the challenges pushed contestants beyond their comfort zones. The on-stage tasks demanded a combination of gutsiness and boldness, creating an electrifying atmosphere.
Judges Sandeep Yadav and Neeraj Naik Salgaocar played a crucial role in evaluating the participants. Their discerning eyes sought not only physical prowess but also the ability to face unconventional challenges with grace. The atmosphere was charged with excitement as spectators cheered for their favourite contestants, creating a memorable experience for all in attendance.

Fashion Show – “Revisiting Royal Blood”
On Day 2 of Anantara 2024, a captivating fashion show unfolded under the theme “Revisiting Royal Blood.” The panel of judges for this comprised Ms. Hriya Patil, a professional dancer, actor, model, and entrepreneur, Mr. Tapan Acharya, a popular Indian actor, writer, producer, and director and Mr. Joslin Mesquita.
The event unfolded over 10 minutes per team, showcasing the sartorial brilliance of seven teams. Each team skilfully depicted the grandeur of different kingdoms, immersing the audience in a visual feast of historical aesthetics.
Team Maratha emerged victorious and the second place was won by Pandyan.
Behind the scenes, orchestrating this grand spectacle were the event heads Shubham Gajinkar and Disha Morvekar, and the teachers in charge Asst. Professors Ms. Pooja Shanbhag and Ms. Shruti Kunkolienkar. Their meticulous planning ensured a seamless execution of the event.
OFF-STAGE EVENTS
Street Play
Event heads were Padmaja Shirodkar and Omkar Naik, with Teacher Heads Ms Sweta Verenkar and Ms Saruka Kalgutkar. Assistant Professor Brijesh Shet Dessai, and Vrishab Pattanshetty, Physics Lab Assistant, brought their expertise to evaluate the impactful performances as Judges. Teams delved into crucial societal issues through their street plays, addressing the urgent need to eradicate transgender discrimination, combat drug addiction, and shed light on the concept of “Vilupt Goen” – a call to preserve the environment.
Team Maratha seized the first-place position with a compelling and thought-provoking street play. Their ability to convey the message effectively and engage the audience contributed to their well-deserved victory.
Team Pandyan secured the second-place spot, delivering a performance that resonated with the audience and judges alike. Team Chera’s impactful street play earned them the third-place position, adding to the diversity of themes explored during the event.
Sketch Symphony
The event was led by the event heads Omkar Kedar and Harsh Naik with teachers in charge, Dr Lina Sadekar and Ms Valencia Baptista. The event was judged by the discerning duo of Mr. Sachin Naik and Ms. Ashwini Prabhu, both Art teachers. The theme was “Portrait of an Ancient Indian Ruler.”
The competition witnessed intense two-hour rounds where participants translated their visions onto canvas, capturing the reality and essence of ancient Indian rulers. Claiming the coveted positions were the following: *1st Place: Team Maratha, *2nd Place: Team Pandyan, *3rd Place: Team Maurya.
RAJVANSH KHOJ – (Treasure Hunt)
The much-anticipated event, “RAJVANSH KHOJ,” unfolded on the vibrant grounds of Ravindra Bhawan and College on Day Two. The essence of the day was encapsulated in a thrilling treasure hunt that tested the wit and agility of the participating teams. The treasure hunt comprised a myriad of challenging tasks and mind-bending riddles, pushing the participating teams to their limits as they navigated through the labyrinth of clues in pursuit of victory.
The 1st place was secured by Team Gupta, 2nd place by Team Rajput and 3rd Place by Team Pandyan. These teams demonstrated exceptional teamwork, problem-solving skills, and resilience, earning their well-deserved positions on the podium. The success of Rajvansh Khoj can be attributed to the diligent efforts of the event heads, Soham Mayank, Aditi, and the team. The teachers in charge of the event were Asst. Professors Sumit Kumar and Sameer Patil.
Mascot Crafting Battle
The competition unfolded in three exciting rounds, each designed to test the participants’ skills and imagination. The initial round challenged them to craft a complete warrior attire from top to bottom, using their materials. The results were a visual feast, showcasing a diverse array of warrior-inspired creations.
The second round, provided participants an opportunity to breathe life into their warrior personas by engaging in conversations; this round added a dynamic and interactive element to the competition. The third round centered on the introduction of the crafted warrior characters. Participants not only displayed their artistic finesse but also narrated compelling stories behind their warrior creations. The event heads for the battle were Mrunali Chari and Pavitra Gadkar, It was judged by Mr Sandesh Gaundalkar and Siddhant Kanekar which added a touch of expertise to the event. The first place was secured by the Marathas and second place by the Pandyan.
Culinary Skills Throwdown
Under the guidance of Dr. Shami Pai and Ms. Ashwina Tari, and with event heads Siya Gauns Dessai and Pranjali Naik, the competition unfolded seamlessly. The judges, Ms. Shradha Gaurish Lad, an entrepreneur, and Mr. Angelo Savio da Costa, a Chef, lent their expertise to the event, setting the stage for an exhilarating contest. With 10 teams competing for victory, the “Blind Spice Challenge” commenced at 11:00 am, challenging participants to identify various spices and their medicinal uses while blindfolded. Following a rigorous selection process, seven teams advanced to the final round: Chalukya, Pallava, Maratha, Gupta, Maurya, Rajputs, and Cholas.
The climax of the event, the “Chef Battle,” began at 11:50 am, unveiling the secret ingredient: soya chunks. With culinary creativity as their canvas, participants embarked on a journey to craft dishes that showcased the versatility of this ingredient. Each team presented their creation, accompanied by a compelling narrative that highlighted the inspiration behind their dish and the winners were the Marathas.
Entry Parade
In a dazzling display of creativity and social awareness, the Entry Parade unfolded as a grand spectacle, providing a platform for teams to showcase their concerns about various Goan issues. The event, aptly judged by Mr. Saheel Naik, a teacher and Ghumat Vadak, and Mr. Shubham Naik, also a Ghumat Vadak, brought together eight spirited teams. Diverse topics were chosen by the teams, ranging from the historical significance of the 1967 Opinion poll to contemporary issues like Save Mollem, the Mhadei issue, increasing criminal cases in Goa, the Mining issue, and the perceived threat of tourism to the state.
In a competitive atmosphere, Team Gupta claimed the top spot for their insightful presentation on “Increasing Criminal Cases in Goa.” Meanwhile, Team Rajputs secured a well-deserved victory by addressing the critical issue of “Mhadei.” The Entry Parade served as a powerful platform for not only artistic expression but also for shedding light on the multifaceted challenges faced by Goa. Each team’s dedication to raising awareness about Goan issues left a lasting impact, making this event a remarkable and socially significant affair. The event Heads were Dipam Naik and Sujal Naik with teachers in charge Mr. Sanjay Velip and Ms. Snigdha Naik.
U. N. BENE Quiz
The Cultural Council organised the U. N. Bene Quiz competition on the 24th of January 2024 at the Conference Hall of Ravindra Bhavan. The Quiz competition began at noon and concluded at 2 pm. The Quiz Masters for the competition were Mr. Anish Dhopeshwarkar and Mr. Suraj Kamat, both of whom are affiliated with the Quiz Labs quiz master organisation.
Nine colleges participated in the quiz, which began with a written round, which was an elimination round. 30 General Knowledge questions were displayed on the screen, with each successive question being put forth after each minute. Four teams qualified for the next level – the buzzer round. 25 questions were asked, based on topics like Science and Technology, Culture and Heritage, Business, Economy, Music and Entertainment.
The efforts put in by the Quizmasters during the conduct of the quiz were commendable as they were able to make the quiz engaging and entertaining for both participants and the audience, The participants had a tough time answering while also showing excitement when answering each question.
The Quiz ended with the final question in round 2 being asked and the winners emerged through answering the greatest number of questions correctly. The 1st Place was secured by Team Nanda, and the 2nd Place went to Team Maurya.
Assistant Professors Ms. Swati Bhat and Dr. Monica M. Patil were the coordinators of the programme and Advaith, Tanisha, and Aachal were the student coordinators.
FOOTLOOSE DANCE BATTLE
The Footloose Dance Battle, was organized under the guidance of Assistant Professors Ms. Zakiya Tahir and Ms. Cinola Vaz with Mandar Patil and Swapnil Shirodkar as the event heads. The dance battle brought forth an electrifying display of talent and creativity. With Sachin Patkaro, a professional dancer as the discerning judge, the event unfolded with captivating performances, showcasing the diversity and skill of the participating teams.
The Pandyans secured the 1st position and the Marathas claimed the 2nd spot.
SPORTS EVENTS
IRON MAN AND IRON WOMAN
The Iron Man and Iron Woman event, organized by Mohammed Hassan Raza Qazi and Nicolla Mascarenhas, showcased the physical prowess of participants across eight teams each.
In the Iron Man category, the Chera team clinched the top spot with a time of 10 hours, 14 minutes, and 24 seconds, followed by Rajput in second place and Maratha in third. Meanwhile, in the Iron Woman category, Pallava secured first place with a time of 8 hours, 34 minutes, and 3 seconds, with Maurya and Maratha securing second and third place, respectively.
The event unfolded across seven stages, each testing the competitors’ strength, speed, and endurance. From running with weights to burpees, drinking water, and flipping tires, participants navigated a challenging circuit on the second day of the event. The judges ensured fair play and accurate timing throughout the competition.
Control Cricket Championship
Under the event heads Omprakash Lenka and Eshwari Borkar, the Control Cricket Championship unfolded as a thrilling spectacle of strategic prowess and athletic skill. This intense cricket tournament saw participation of eight teams. Regrettably, Team Chola Dynasty and Chera Dynasty were absent from the cricket pitch. The matches were officiated by student volunteers who took on the role of umpires, ensuring a fair and unbiased competition. The format adopted for the tournament was knockout-based. The culmination of this gripping contest saw the Gupta Dynasty and Pallava Dynasty facing off in a high-stakes final, with Gupta Dynasty emerging victorious as the champions, followed by Pallava Dynasty securing the second position.
Tug of War
Under the expert supervision of Referees Magaj and Bharat, and led by Event Heads Magaj and Sarvesh, the Tug of War event unfolded as a test of strength and teamwork. The intense competition showcased the participants’ determination and resilience as teams battled it out in gripping rounds.
Team Nanda emerged as the ultimate victors, demonstrating their prowess in this challenging test of physical strength and coordination.
Badminton Tournament
The Badminton Tournament, organized by event heads Bhavana Shruti Seth and Samprabh Phaldesai, showcased thrilling matches and exceptional talent on the court. After intense competition, Team Maratha emerged victorious, demonstrating their skill and determination throughout the tournament. Meanwhile, Team Rajput secured the runners-up position, displaying their resilience and sportsmanship in the face of tough opponents. The tournament was a testament to the passion for badminton and the competitive spirit of all the participating teams.
Knockouts (Penalty Shootout)
The event heads were Cavel Dias and Roshni Patil. A total of ten teams participated. The officials in the game were student volunteers themselves. It was a knockout-based tournament and each team got five penalty shootouts. The Finals were played between the Gupta Dynasty and Rajput Dynasty.
The winners were the Rajput Dynasty and the runners-up, the Gupta Dynasty. The third place was shared by the Chalukya and Maurya dynasties.
The Two-day mega event Anantara 8.0 ended with musical performances by DJs Keagan and Anik, followed by the Prize distribution programme. Mr. Vijay Sardesai, Fatorda MLA, was the Chief Guest for the prize distribution. Parvatibai Chowgule College of Arts and Science emerged as the overall winners of Anantara 8.0. The event’s success can be attributed to the collaborative efforts of Dr. Maithili Naik, Dr. Sheetal Arondekar, and Mr. Dewaraj Hirekurbar, who led the Students’ Council, Cultural Council, and Sports Council respectively, along with the dedicated faculty and students of the College.
