‘Career in Sales: Opportunities, Rewards & Enabling Skills’

The Centre for Excellence in Sales organized an enlightening session titled ‘Career in Sales: Opportunities, Rewards & Enabling Skills’ on 15th December, 2023, in Hall No. 02. The primary objective of the session was to provide the students with comprehensive knowledge about the prospects and intricacies of a career in sales.  115 students attended the session reflecting their keen interest in the subject matter.

The event commenced with an opening address by Principal, Professor Prita D. Mallya. Following this, Mr. Suhas Mallya introduced the distinguished Resource Person, Mr. Prashant Desai, who has an extensive 30years career in sales, having served in over 15 countries worldwide.

Mr. Prashant Desai commenced the session by delving into the contemporary landscape of sales. He provided valuable insights into why pursuing a career in sales is a commendable choice, emphasizing aspects such as earning potential, job security, work-life balance, travel opportunities, networking prospects, competitive dynamics, and the diversity inherent in the field. Furthermore, he outlined the essential skills that contribute to the success of a sales executive and elucidated on the hierarchical structure within the FMCG sector.

Ms. Nandita Borkar, student member of Centre of Excellence in Sales proposed the vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to the Resource Person, all the participants and contributors for making the event a resounding success. Dr. Shami Pai, Convenor of Centre of Excellence in Sales was the Coordinator of the event. The members of CoE in sales, who were also involved in the organisation of the event were Dr Rodney D’Silva, Dr Sheetal Arondekar, Dr Maithili Naik, Ms Pooja Shanbhag and Ms Marjina Shaikh.
