The Career Cell and Women’s Cell, in collaboration with the Department of Human Resource Management, RBI Panjim Regional Office-Goa, organized an insightful session titled ‘Exploring Career Opportunities for Women in the Banking Sector’ on 14th December 2023. The session aimed to enlighten female students about the diverse career opportunities available to them at the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) and to provide a deeper understanding of the facilities offered to women officers.
At the onset of the session, Dr. Lira Gama, Convenor of Women’s Cell welcomed the Resource Person and addressed the gathering. She informed the participants that this was an initiative of the RBI to generate awareness about career prospects and the facilities available for lady officers at the RBI. The Resource Persons for this session were Mr. Yogesh Manjrekar and Smt. Ruchita D’Souza, Officers at RBI, Panjim.
Mr. Manjrekar provided valuable insights into the opportunities available for women considering careers with the RBI. The RBI’s role in catering to the entire nation was emphasized, highlighting the impact employees can have on the nation’s financial landscape. Further, the speaker highlighted that working at the RBI, primarily located in city areas, ensures good living conditions even after transfers, offering stability uncommon in commercial banks. The session underscored the significance of working for the betterment of society and dealing with the global economic scenario, positioning the RBI as a place for impactful contributions.
Ms. Ruchita accentuated that the RBI offers a range of perks for women such as accommodation, competitive compensation, coverage of medical and vehicle expenses, maternity leave, and support for child education expenses. Employees interested in further studies in banking are encouraged, with the RBI covering the fees for educational pursuits. She further explained the recruitment process of the central bank and the ways for preparing for exams. The inclusive nature of the organization and its commitment to gender diversity in the banking sector makes it a promising choice for aspiring female professionals to work with the Central Bank.
92 female students attended the session gaining substantial benefits from the valuable information and insights shared. The event concluded with Ms. Pooja Shanbhag delivering the Vote of Thanks and expressing her gratitude to all the dignitaries, participants, and the organizers.
