All India NauSainik Camp

The Maharashtra Directorate NCC organized the All India NauSainik Camp (AINSC) at INS Shivaji, Lonavala from 14th to 25th October 2023. The primary aim of the camp was to provide cadets with firsthand information about naval life.

612 cadets, including 408 Senior Division (SD) boy Cadets and 204 Senior Wing Girl (SW) Cadets, participated from 17 NCC directorates across the country. The competitions included boat pulling, ship modeling, drill, whaler-boat rigging, semaphore, service subjects, seamanship practicals, and small arms firing.  PO Cadet Shudeepa Oli and Leading Cadet Melissa Solomon represented 1 Goa Naval Unit NCC and our Institution. They were the only girls selected for the camp, along with four SD cadets from Goa.

In addition to various competitions and cultural programs, the Cadets had the unique opportunity to visit the state-of-the-art marine engineering training facilities at INS Shivaji, a premier technical training institute of the Indian Navy. To qualify for AINSC, Cadets had to go through different phases of NauSainik Camps in their group and directorate. The camp began with a swimming test where Cadets had to swim 50 meters and float for 3 minutes. The boat pulling competition took place at the lake in INS Shivaji. LC Melissa Solomon was the coxswain, and the Women’steam of Karnataka and Goa won the silver medal.

In the Women’s category, teams from Directorates of Delhi, Karnataka-Goa, and Uttarakhand won the gold, silver, and bronze medals, respectively. In the Men’s category, Maharashtra, Delhi, and Karnataka-Goa teams won the gold, silver, and bronze, respectively. The Karnataka-Goa team was declared the overall winner. Medals and other prizes were presented by DG of NCC Lt. General Gurbirpal Singh. Leading Cadet Melissa Solomon of Shree Damodar College Naval Unitreceived DDG recommendation for the Best Cadet in the upcoming RDC phase.
