The Training, Internship and Placement Cell in association with Counseling Cell conducted a session on “Personalised Aptitude Testing for Better Career Choices” on 29th September 2023 at 11.15am in Smart Classroom of the College. The Resource Person was Ms. Lareina D’Souza, Psychologist & Psychotherapist at Healing Hearth, Margao, Goa.
The objective of the session was to help students discover their abilities through career aptitude test, explore strengths and skills to make the right career choice for their future. The session commenced with the welcome address by Ms. Eshani Bakhle, College Counselor.
Ms. Lareina D’souza commenced the session by giving a brief introduction on path to self-discovery. She guided the students to gain insight into their strengths, skills, weaknesses, values and interest through their past experiences.
The speaker then briefed the students on the use of Aptitude test. She provided students with the link and QR code to online Career Aptitude test. The students were able to answer this aptitude test and get the online results for the same. The results of the test interpreted 6 abilities: Realistic, investigative, artistic, social, enterprising and conventional. This interpretation of results was explained to students with examples associated with career and use of abilities for particular career path.
Ms. Lariena explained the importance of goal planning while choosing a career path. The importance of networking with people from field of interest through workshops, social media and professional organization was informed to students. She also discussed the importance of internship and its benefits. Internships allow an individual to clear doubts related to career choices, enables an individual to gain practical experience in the field of interest and build network with people.
Ms. Lareina guided students on making a career choice through SWOT analysis and vision board. She also highlighted on importance of building resume and interview preparation. The Resource Person concluded the session by answering the queries of students.
The session ended with a Vote of Thanks proposed by Mr. Cyrus D’Costa, student of Third Year B.Com. 62 students attended the session.
