Damodar Idol

Damodar Idol, the annual singing competition of the College took place on 16th September 2023 in the Hall 1, fifth floor, Central Block. The competition began at 9:50 am with an inaugural choir sung by Shambhavi Naik Gaunkar and Devanshi Kanekar. Followed by this, the Principal addressed the gathering and welcomed judges with potted plants and mementos as a token of appreciation.

To accommodate a wide range of musical styles, the competition was divided into 5 categories, including Hindi Solo, Marathi Solo, Konkani Solo, English solo and Duet. This categorization allowed contestants to choose the format that best showcased their talents and creativity. The singing competition witnessed enthusiastic participation from students across various departments and batches. Contestants were required to pre-register and audition for a spot in the competition, ensuring a high level of talent and commitment among the participants.

The competition featured an array of musical genres, from classical to contemporary, ensuring that there was something for everyone in the audience. Contestants delivered mesmerizing performances, leaving the audience in awe. The quality of talent displayed was exceptional, reflecting months of preparation and dedication. The enthusiastic audience cheered for every participant, creating an electrifying atmosphere in the venue. Fellow students came together to support their favourite contestants. The event also featured special performances by renowned judges and faculty members, providing a delightful break between competition and further adding to the entertainment value.

A panel of experienced judges from the music industry – renowned vocalists Mr. Laxman Naik and Mr. Vaibhav Kamat- were invited to assess the performances. The judges based their evaluations on various criteria, including rhythmic interpretation, stage presence, pronunciation and voice quality.

After much anticipation, the winners were announced:

The Vote of Thanks was proposed by Mr. Kewal Patel from TYB.Com (A). Mr. Sandesh Gaonkar and Ms. Ashwina Tari Volvoikar were the faculty coordinators for the competition. The comperes for the day were:

The competition not only celebrated musical prowess but also fostered a sense of community among the students.
