The Department of Computer Science organized a guest lecture on Web security for TY BCA students as a part of the course ‘Web Technology.’ The Resource Person for the session was Mr. Imran Riyaz Khadri, a Cybercrime specialist from the Goa Cybercrime Department.
The session commenced at 12.15 pm with the introduction of the Resource Person by Ms. Siddhi Gawde, a student of TY BCA-B. Mr. Imran explained the process of web hosting to highlight the need for web security in today’s websites that we develop. He mentioned hosting platforms like Hostinger, Blue Stacks, and Go Daddy, which allow for web hosting. He also stressed the guidelines to be followed when hosting a website on these platforms.
Mr. Imran then elucidated on cryptography, starting with the topic of web security. He differentiated between the two types of cryptography methods: private key and public key encryption. Mr. Imran also guided the students on how to become a bug bounty hunter, through which they can earn a monetary reward for discovering and reporting bugs or vulnerabilities within a website. While explaining bug identification in the website, he described web security breaches through man-in-the-middle attacks.
Mr. Siddhivinayak Hadapad, student of TY BCA-A proposed the Vote of Thanks. 54 students attended the session. The teachers in charge for the guest lecture were Ms. Samira Vengurlekar and Ms. Sneha Prabhudessai.
