Self and Work Management

The Department of Computer Science organized a Training session on self and work management for FY B.Voc.(ST) students as a part of the skill component of JSD Module Qualification Pack. The Resource Person for the session was Mr. Sameer Kapadi.

The session commenced at 8.15 am with the introduction of Resource Person by Ms. Sneha Prabhudessai, NOS training in-charge. The entire session was divided into three parts: managing work requirements, planning and organization and organizational procedures and policies. While explaining about self-management, Mr. Kapadi conducted a small activity to enlighten students about mindset and lifestyle of a person.

Mr. Kapadi elucidated on understanding work requirements by highlighting the most important KASH parameters which stands for Knowledge, Ability, Skills and Habits. He also guided students on how to set SMART (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, Time-bound) goals using techniques like Eisenhower matrix, Pareto’s Principal and prioritization techniques.

The second part of the session began with an activity on Mind map, for which students were made into groups, to encourage them to learn communication, leadership, cooperation and teamwork.

The third part of the session commenced after a short break where Mr. Kapadi explained about SOP, understanding work procedures, policies and KRA’s. At this stage he also conducted an activity where the students had to state the policy created at a company/workplace. At the end of the activity, the Resource Person explained the students about developing and implementing policies and also about monitoring and reviewing a policy. Various queries of the students were addressed and the session ended at 1.15 pm.
