The Career Cell and Department of English organized a career counseling session on the topic ‘Prospects in the Media Industry’ on 6th September 2023 from 11.00 am to 12.00 pm. The main aim of this session was to familiarize students with the diverse array of options for those seeking to make their mark in this exciting Media industry.
The Resource Person for the session was Ms. Danuska Da Gama, Senior Journalist, Incharge Features at The Navhind Times. She provided valuable insights into the diverse career opportunities within the media industry. Her discussion encompassed several key sectors, including journalism, public relations, advertising, and the TV and film industry. During the session, several important insights were shared. She added that the media industry is multifaceted, offering diverse career opportunities.
She also encouraged the students to develop versatile skill sets like communication, creativity, and technical know-how which is essential to pursue a career in media. She also added that the rise of smart speakers and voice assistants has created new opportunities for pod casters, voice actors, and audio professionals in the media sector. She engaged in interactions with students, addressing inquiries pertaining to the realm of media and communications.
The session was successful in providing valuable insights into the diverse opportunities and career paths available in the media industry. The entire event was planned and coordinated by Ms. Pooja Shanbhag, Career Cell Convenor along with the faculty from the Department of English Dr. Monica Patil. 71 interested students attended the session.
