The Department of Computer Science in association with the TIP Cell organized a session on “Decoding Goa IT Inc.” on 2nd September 2023, from 10.30 am to 12.30 pm for the BCA and B.Voc.(ST) students. The Resource Person was Mr. Sujeet Shetty, President of Goa Technology Association and Co-Founder of Team Inertia Technologies.
Mr. Malik Rehan, Student of TY B.Voc.(ST) delivered the welcome address. Principal, Prof. Prita Mallya, extended a warm welcome to the distinguished Resource Person and emphasized the significance of sessions like this in keeping our students informed of the ever-evolving landscape of technology.
Ms. Sujal Naik, an SYBCA student, introduced Mr. Sujeet Shetty, a professional in the Information Technology field. Mr. Shetty commenced his lecture by delving into the evolving IT scene in Goa, tracing its growth through the years. He entertained us with anecdotes about IT companies that sprouted in the 90s, shedding light on the current IT infrastructure landscape in Goa. Furthermore, he provided invaluable insights into the exciting world of startups in Goa, sharing tips on how to navigate this dynamic arena.
In alignment with the current IT trends, Mr Shetty explained the different career options available to our students. The speaker stressed that students should focus on their goals, he explained how IT companies work and how many companies are available in Goa. He elucidated the inner workings of IT companies and elaborated on the wealth of opportunities available in Goa. Moreover, he enlightened us on the industry’s expectations from our students, emphasizing how Goan IT ventures span the global stage with their services.
In the end, a student of FY B.Voc.(ST), Shaina Kamat proposed the Vote of Thanks. 158 students and 05 faculty members attended the session. Overall, the session was informative, engaging, and succeeded in enhancing students’ understanding of the subject matter.
