Importance of Millets in Diet

To commemorate the International Year of Millets 2023, the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) and the B.Com Programme organized a session on the Importance of Millets in Diet on 1st September 2023, from 11:30 to 12:30. The Resource Person for the session was Mrs. Vandana Kakodkar, a Consulting Dietician from Ponda.

The session began with a warm welcome to the Resource Person by the compere, followed by the presentation of a potted plant to Mrs. Vandana by Dr. Lina Sadekar, IQAC Coordinator. Mrs. Vandana began her talk by explaining the meaning of millets and providing examples of different types of millets. She highlighted the numerous benefits of incorporating millets into our diet and discussed various lifestyle diseases and their causes. Additionally, she explained how millets can be used to prepare a variety of dishes and elaborated on the role of millets in maintaining good health.

Following the presentation, there was a Q&A session where both students and staff had the opportunity to clarify their doubts and seek further information on the topic. Ms. Aaachal Naik served as the compere, Ms. Bhakti Mirashi introduced the speaker and Ms. Abha Naik proposed the Vote of Thanks.

The event was organized by Dr. Shami Pai, B.Com Programme Coordinator, and Dr. Lina Sadekar, IQAC Coordinator.
