TechTrendz– the Club of the Department of Computer Science – organizeda session on Cyber security titled “Navigating the Digital Fortress: Exploring Cyber Security Pathways” on 26th August 2023 from 11.15 am to 12.15 pm. The renowned Resource Persons for the session were Mr. Ritwik Korgaokar, a cyber security specialist and founder of Code Hack; and Mr. Riyaz Imran Khadri, CEO of Avanteia, a Cyber security Specialist, a Blockchain Specialist and a Faculty member at Sridora Caculo College of Commerce & Management Studies, Mapusa. The primary objective of the session was to educate participants about the importance of cyber security in today’s digital age. It aimed to raise awareness about the threats in cyberspace, preventive measures, and how to respond to security incidents effectively.
The session commenced with an introduction to the fundamental concepts of cyber security. The Resource Persons demonstrated real-life cyber security attacks carried out over the internet using various apps and techniques. Mentioning apps like the TruthSpy, CamPhish, SocialPhish, Snap Map, BeVigil, Bugcrowd, and Pegasus has helped participants understand the potential risks and vulnerabilities they face while using digital platforms.
As the session progressed, the Resource Persons covered the different layers of the Internet, including the Surface Web, Dark Web, and Deep Web. This information provided participants with insights into the hidden aspects of the internet and the need for caution. The session concluded with a discussion on considering ethical hacking as a career option. This is important as the field of ethical hacking plays a vital role in identifying and addressing vulnerabilities in digital systems.

Miss. Shaina Kamat, student of FY B.Voc.(ST) served as the compere for the session. Mr. Shahid Shaikh, student of SY B.Voc.(ST) introduced the Resource Persons. Mr. Malik Rehan, student of TY BVoc(ST), proposed the Vote of Thanks. 205 students from the BCA, B.Voc.(ST) and B.Com programmes attended the session.
