Activities under Meri Mati Mera Desh Campaign

Meri Mati Mera Desh programme was envisaged as the culminating event of ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’ that was started on 12th March 2021.  This campaign aims to pay tribute to our beloved ‘Motherland’ and the courageous ‘Veers’ who have made the supreme sacrifice for our nation, by conducting ceremonies at the Panchayat/Village/Institution, Block, Urban Local Body, as well as State and National levels.

Under this campaign, the NSS unit of the College in association with Village Panchayat Seraulim conducted various programs from 9th to 20th August 2023 at Seraulim.

  • Dedication of Shilaphalakam

On 15th August 2023, the Shilaphalakam was constructed in the primary school building at Seraulim. On the Shilaphalakam, the names of the two veers (freedom fighters) from Seraulim village namely Shri. Felicio Cardoz and Shri. Fabiao D’Costa were inscribed. The main aim of constructing Shilaphalakam was to express heartfelt gratitude to brave hearts who have made the supreme sacrifice.

  • Panch Pran Pledge

The NSS volunteers along with NSS Programme Officers administered the Panch Pran Pledge on 14th August 2023 by holding the soil in their hands. A total of 113 NSS volunteers participated for the same. The pledge covering Panch Pran (five resolves) of the Hon’ble Prime Minister includes a resolve of developed India, removing any trace of the colonial mindset, taking pride in our legacy, our strength of unity, and fulfilling the duties of citizens with honesty.

  • Vasudha Vandhan

With the aim to renew and replenish Mother Earth, the NSS unit of the College, Seraulim village panchayat and the Forest Department, Margao planted 75 saplings of indigenous species and created an Amrit Vatika on 14th August 2023 at Seraulim. Indigenous species like Kokum, Indian Gooseberry, Mango, Guava, Giant taro, tamarind, and other plants having medical properties were planted. A total of 113 NSS volunteers participated in the plantation drive.

  • Veeron Ka Vandhan

The NSS unit of the College and the village panchayat Seraulim felicitated the family members of the deceased freedom fighters from Seraulim Shri. Felicio Cardoz and Shri. Fabiao D’Costa at the hands of Panchayat Sarpanch Mrs. Sima S. Shanke on 15th August 2023.

  • Hoisting of the National Flag

On 15th August 2023, the National Flag was hoisted at Seraulim village panchayat by the Sarpanch. After the hoisting, the primary school children performed cultural activities like patriotic songs, dance and Skit.

  • Prabhat Pheri (Morning Walk)

The NSS volunteers and NCC (Army Wing) organized prabhatpheri (Morning Walk) on 19th August 2023 from the College main entrance to Comba Margao by holding soil in one hand and the tricolour flag in the other. The Prabhat Pheri started at 8:15 am and ended at 9:00 am. During the rally students recited various patriotic slogans. A total of 53 students participated for the same. The activity was coordinated by Mr. Sanjay Velip, NSS PO-Incharge.
