The Students’ Council, Cultural Council and Sports Council successfully hosted the annual intercollegiate event, ‘Anantara 2023’ where a total of 8 colleges participated in more than 25 events, including cultural, sporting, literary, business, and other events, as well as pre-events. The theme of Anantara was ‘Past, Present, and Future in the Same Timeline’. The event was held on 22nd and 23rd February 2023 at Ravindra Bhavan, Margao.
Students from various colleges in Goa responded enthusiastically to the activities. The sub-events were as follows: Glamshow -fashion show, Nritya Pop-Dance competition, Mr. and Miss Anantara, Control Cricket, Lights Camera Action, Spread the word, Kirdar- Cosplay event, Third Degree, Strongest Man/Woman, Jugalbandi, Art Hub 101, Artistic Dhvaja, Like Contest- Social Media Contest, Sparkling Creations, 7 Tiles, Rope Burns- Tug-o-War contest, Lit Wit- literature quiz, Treasure O’ Trash- Wealth out of Waste event, Culture Parade, Photography Contest, Knockouts, Chef Anantara- The Cooking contest and The Next Frontier.
LitWitshad three rounds of competitive quiz after which the top five teams participated in the ‘Tell Your Tale’ Competition. The Cultural Parade was judged by Laxman Naik and Bunty Udelkar – all teams put up energetic and colourful displays of the culture and heritage of Goa. NrityaPop the dance event, was themed as Fusion of Old and New Music. The teams were given props on the event day, which they had to integrate and use in their choreography. The judges for the event were Cane Menezes, Gaurav Naik, and Stefney Dias.
Sparkling Creations was an off-stage face-painting event which saw participation by all eight teams, and the face paintings were judged by eminent professional artists, Mr. Sandesh Gaundalkar and Mr. Vitesh Naik. The event Treasure O’ Trash (Wealth out of waste) saw immense creativity and use of waste material to create masterpieces. The judges for this event were Priyanka Kunkolienkar and Pooja Pai Khot. Art Hub 101showcased immense talent and creativity. Mr. Sujay Naik and Ms. Siya Pandit were invited as judges for this event.
Mr. and Ms. Anantara involved several rounds such as Dumb Charades, Saree Draping Competition, Ramp Walk and Introduction, Talent Round, and Question and Answer Round. The off stage event was judged by Ms. Sheryl Sanches and Ms. Girija Gaonkar. The onstage event was judged by Ms. Mayanka Pereira and Adv. Celbert Dias, who are well-known personalities in the field of arts and entertainment. Mr. Suhas Mallya and Mr. Kiran Mehta judged The Next Frontier – a Business Plan competition, which witnessed some innovative ideas from students of different colleges.
The Spread the Word (street play) event saw creative performances on the theme ‘My body my right’ and ‘Modern Mahabharat’. The judges were Devendra Kotharkar and Brijesh Shet Dessai. Glamshow, the fashion show event was themed on ‘Sneak into the Future’ was a veritable treat to the eyes. The participating teams creatively displayed their innovative costumes and were stunning in their display. Ms. Hriya Patil, Mr. Tapan Acharya and Ms. Shruti Arabekar were the judges for the event.
Various sports events, namely Control Cricket, 7 Tiles, Tie Breaker-Knockouts, Rope Burns and Strongest Man and Woman, were organized on the College campus.
In addition, there were several Pre-Events held such as; Artistic Dhvaja, Green it up, Like Contest, Lights Camera Action, Surprise event and so on.
The mega event Anantara ended with musical performances by DJ Curly and Explicit Vibes. Anantara 2023 was a successful event that provided a platform for students to showcase an entire range of talents and compete with their peers. The mix of cultural, sports, literary, business, and other events provided a well-rounded experience for all participants.
Mr. Raju Naik, Councillor Fatorda, was the Chief Guest for the prize distribution function. Parvatibai Chowgule College of Arts and Science emerged as the overall winners of Anantara 2023, with Shree Rayeshwar Institute of Engineering & Information Technology securing second place. The event’s success can be attributed to the collaborative efforts of Dr. Maithili Naik, Ms. Samiksha Vengurlekar, and Dr. Ajinkya Kudtarkar, who led the Students’ Council, Cultural Council, and Sports Council respectively, along with the dedicated faculty and students who contributed their time and energy to the event. Overall Anantara 2023 was a grand success.
