Lit Wits – A literary Activity

The Literary Club of the Cultural Council organised LitWits: A Literary Event, on 22nd February 2023, at Ravindra Bhavan, Margao from 10:30 am – 12:30 pm as a part of the Intercollegiate mega event Anantara. The event comprised of English literature Quiz and story-telling namely Quiz Quest and Tell your Tale respectively.The Judges invited for judging the second round –Tell your Tale were Ms. Vaishnavi Hegde Agranayak and Mr. Eltrin D’Sousa, both having a keen interest in writing, poetry and storytelling.

7 colleges from Goa participated in this event.

The round of QuizQuest had 3 stages: Stage 1: test your knowledge; Stage 2: double trouble and Stage 3: quick on trigger

The questions asked in the quiz were based on famous quotes, sonnets/books of renowned authors/poets and children’s literature. The participating teams had to compete in all the 3 rounds of competitive quiz to qualify for the third round.

*Stage 1* was a MCQ round wherein each team gets 3 questions and each correct answer would lead to +10, there was no negative marking and no elimination in this round.

*Stage 2* was a risk-taking round, where the participants take a risk to answer the question and with each correct answer, they get double points that is 20, whereas with a wrong answer there is -5 markings and not taking the risk had a -10 marking. One team was eliminated at this stage.

*Stage 3* was a buzzer round which was completely an audio- visual round. Each correct answer had +10 points whereas the wrong answer had -5. One team was eliminated after stage 3.

The top 5 teams were selected after the third round of quiz, who contended for the second half of the LitWits –‘Tell Your Tale’, a storytelling competition that involved a pair-based narration of a meaningful story. The themes given to the teams for storytelling were tragic past, and future aspirations. One member of each team was expected to narrate an original story based on the theme given to them, the other member had to give a proper conclusion to the story by involving a surprise element (word) given to them on the spot. This event was hosted by two student coordinators viz. Ms. Brionna Noronha and Mr. Advaith Ainapur, SYB.Com under the guidance of Convenor of the Literary Club Ms. Samiksha Vengurlekar.

The First Place was bagged by Rosary College, second place was won by Chowgule college and third place was won by Goa Engineering College.
