B.Com Programme remedial Classes – (Odd Semester)

The Student Welfare Cell organized remedial classes from 2nd to 5th November 2022 from 1.15 pm to 2.15 pm for FY, SY and TY B.Com students.

Students requested for remedial classes in the following subjects –

  • Commercial Arithmetic, Principles and Practice of Accounting, Financial Accounting-FY B.COM.
  • Fundamentals of Cost Accounting – SY B.COM.
  • Government Accounting, Financial Reporting – TY B.COM.

From this Academic Year the Student Welfare Cell has initiated the practice of remedial coaching through the Buddy programme. The Buddy Programme is an arrangement wherein mentors first identify slow learners who need academic support, and then assign students who can extend such support. This one-on-one model allows for greater attention and personalized assistance for the students.

The Student Welfare Cell decided that remedial classes will be engaged by advanced learners for slow learners under the guidance and supervision of the subject faculty. Advanced learners were identified by the mentors and were guided to engage remedial sessions. This provided the students with an opportunity to engage in peer learning. A separate schedule / timetable was prepared and the details of the same were shared with the students in advance.

Remedial classes of one hour each were planned and conducted before the commencement of the Semester-End Examination. Students who secured and scored less marks in their internals were advised to attend the classes. Also, students who missed lectures on account of sports and other co-curricular activities were requested to attend the remedial coaching.

Most students were greatly benefitted by these sessions as they got an opportunity to solve and clear all their doubts and difficulties with their classmates and the subject faculty. They requested that remedial classes be held for a greater number of days and for more hours. The sessions were planned and coordinated by Dr. Shami Pai and Ms. Pooja Shanbhag, Convenor and Member of Student Welfare Cell, respectively.

10 faculty members, 60 TY B.Com students, 15 SY B.Com students and 6 FY B.Com students were a part of this activity
