The Department of Computer Science organized a career guidance session-I on “Career Insights in the IT Sector” for the First year students of BCA &B.Voc(ST) on 15th October 2022 at 11.00 am. Vice-Principal Dr. Edwin Barreto welcomed the Resource Person Mr. Amol Bhandarkar, Founder & CEO, Developers Cove. Ms. Bhakti Mirashi, a student of FY B.Voc(ST) introduced the Resource Person.
Mr. Amol’s session focused on creating awareness about the career opportunities available in the IT Sector. He began the session by informing students about the different options available and the various development paths. He also explained in detail about the career options in various domains of Computer Science.
The first domain was web development which included front end and back-end development. He talked about the need for problem-solving skills needed in order to grow in these fields. Mr. Bhandarkar then explained the second domain which was Graphic Designing that included video editing, UI/UX and interior designer’s job roles. The third domain discussed was networking, hardware and security. He also discussed about the upcoming job roles in hardware and security services, digital marketing, data analyst, SQL, MongoDb, Business Analyst, QA tester etc. He finally summed up by explaining what companies expect from freshers and how students can prepare themselves to face interviews.
The floor was then kept open for participants to share their inputs and to ask questions or queries. The Resource Person answered all questions put forth by the participants. 106 First Year students attended the session. Ms. Unnata Mandal, a student of SYBCA, proposed the Vote of Thanks. Ms. Jwella Gonsalves compered the session, which concluded at 12:30 p.m.
