The Department of Management organized Khana Mela for the students of FYBBA (FS) as a part of Microeconomics curriculum. The activity was organised on 8th October for Division A and 15th October for Division B from 10a.m. onwards. 74 students participated – 35 from division A and 39 from division B. The objective of the activity was to apply microeconomics in real life. After conducting the activity, the students learnt about the practical application of demand, supply, forms of market structure, profit, loss and choice as an economic problem (what to produce, how to produce and whom to produce). Both the divisions were divided into group of 5-10 students and 11 groups were created. Each group sold different types of snacks and drinks.
The activity was conducted within the College premises besides the Multipurpose Hall. The profit gained was equally distributed among the students. Through Khana Mela, students learnt to use the scarce resources accordingly and to supply the commodities for which there was demand.
After the activity was completed, students were asked to submit a report mentioning the cost of arranging, profit made, resources used, type of profit made and the type of market structure experienced. The faculty in charge for Khanna Mela was Asst. Prof. Karuna Ballikar.
