Inter-collegiate Ghumat Aarti Spardha

An Inter-Collegiate Ghumat Aarti Spardha was organized by the Cultural Council of the College on 1st October 2022 in the Multipurpose Hall. A total of eleven colleges consisting of 109 participants participated in the Ghumat Aarti competition. The judges of the competition were Mr. SaieshFallary and Mr. Parshuram Majalikar. Assistant Professor, Ms. Rama Borkar and students Ms. Shambhavi Naik Gaonkar and Ms. Sharvari Sawant were the comperes for the inaugural function. The competition was inaugurated by lighting a traditional lamp by the­­ Principal, Vice-Principal, Chief guest, Convenor of Cultural Council, Teacher Members of the Council and the Cultural secretary.

Prof. Prita D. Mallya, Principal in her welcome address said that ‘Ganesh Chaturthi is the festival during which Goa enjoys the rhythm of the Ghumat Aarti. It is the sacred part of the rich Goan culture and heritage. To cherish the Goan culture, the Cultural committee and the College students have taken an initiative of organising this event. She encouraged all the participants and congratulated the organizing team. The competition commenced with Shiv Damodar Group presenting Ganesh Vandana and Ghumat Arti followed by the performance of the teams. Teams that participated were; Avighna, Durja, Swaroop, Sumukha, Haridra, Gajakarna, Gadadhara, Vignharta, Siddhivinayak, Ekdanta, Yagneyaka. All the teams put forth their enthralling performances. At the end, the students of VVM’s Shree Damodar College along with the judges put up a special performance.

The Colleges that participated for the event are CES College of Arts & Commerce, Cuncolim, Dnyanprassarak Mandal’s College and  Research Centre, Assagao,  Don Bosco College of Engineering, Fatorda, S.S. Dempo College of Commerce and Economics, Cujira, PES College, Farmagudi, Sant SairobanathAmbiye Government College Pernem, Swami Vivekananda Vidya Prasarak Mandal’s College, Borim, Shree Mallikarjun & Shri Chetan Manju Desai College, Canacona, Government College of Arts, Science and Commerce, Quepem, Fr. Agnel College of Arts and Commerce, Pilar and Goa College of Engineering, Farmagudi.

Dnyanprassarak Mandal’s College and Research Centre, Assagao-Goa bagged the first place followed by Goa College of Engineering, Farmagudi-Goa and S.S. Dempo College of Commerce & Economics, Cujira

Individual prizes were won by following colleges:

  1. Utkarsh Gayak – Vignharta, Dnyanprassarak Mandal’s College and Research Centre
  2. Kasale – Sumukha Team, Government College Pernem
  3. Utkarsh GhumatVazap – Swaroop Team, Ponda Education Society College of Arts and Science.
  4. Shamel – Durja Team, Dempo College

The event ended at 5.45 p.m. with a Vote of Thanks Proposed by Assistant Professor Ms. Preksha Chopdekar (Cultural Council Convenor) and by Mr. Pratam Nagvenkar (Cultural Council Secretary).
