The Department of Commerce & Management in association with Goa Branch of WIRC of ICAI & WICASA Goa, organised a programme on “Financial Tax Literacy” on 2nd August 2022 from 10.00 am to 12.00 pm. The Programme commenced with the Inaugural function. The Compere for the programme was CA. Vinayak Dhumatkar. The inaugural function began with National Anthem and invocation song by Ms. Sushrusha Naik Khandekar, Assistant Professor, Department of Commerce & Management. Prof. Prita D Mallya, Principal of the College addressed the gathering and expressed her gratitude towards ICAI for this collaboration. CA. Gaurav Kenkre, Chairman of Goa Branch of WIRC of ICAI, in his address to the students explained the flow of the programme and told the students to take the benefit from the same. The programme consisted of two technical sessions.
The first session was taken by CA. Rudraksh Desai. He explained the basic concepts of GST and its mechanism with practical examples. He shared with the students about the difficulties in GST compliance, different GST returns which are applicable for different businesses and GST returns like GSTR 1 & GSTR 3B.
The second session was taken by CA. Dhanashree Kamat. She explained the basic concepts of Income tax & ITR filing. She showed the Income tax portal to the students and explained about different ITR returns. She explained in detail the process of filing Income tax returns and the steps to be followed while filing & uploading the returns. She also highlighted the concepts of 26AS and AIS while filing the returns.
Both the sessions were very fruitful and queries of the students relating to the area of GST and Income tax were addressed by the Resource Persons. At the end, Dr. Shami Pai, HOD, Department of Commerce and Management proposed the Vote of Thanks. The Session was coordinated by Assistant Professors Mr. Gajanan Haldankar and Mr. Ainsley Bernard from the Department of Commerce & Management. A total of 140 students attended the programme.
