The Life Skills Committee organised an Online Life Skills Session as a part of 30 Hours 21st Century Life Skills Certificate Course for the First Year BBA(Financial Services) students on 18th December 2021 at 08.30 a.m. using the Google Meet platform. The topic of the session was “Public Health and Safety’’. The main objective of the session was to provide knowledge on various health issues faced in today’s world and create awareness on measures to prevent or minimize such issues. The Resource Person for the session was Dr. Jagadish Cacodcar, Professor and HOD of Department of Community Medicine at GMC. Assistant Professor Racheal Goes welcomed the Resource Person and the participants. Ms. Trishia D’Mello, a student from FY BBA(FS)- B introduced the Guest Speaker.
Dr. Jagadish Cacodcar commenced the session by explaining the importance of a Good Health. Thereafter he discussed student’s queries on the side effects of growth hormone injections taken for body building; causes and prevention of PCOS/PCOD faced by women; causes of Anemia and diet changes to be made to manage it; precautions to be taken to prevent heart related ailments; how to manage mental health in today’s stressful society; severity of Omicron as compared to other variants of Covid-19 and also briefed on whether Omicron can circumvent vaccine protection.
32 students attended the session. The session concluded with a Vote of Thanks delivered by Ms. Siya Nayak from FY BBA(FS)- B. The session was compered and coordinated by Asst. Prof. Racheal Goes. Overall, the session was interesting and interactive.
